6000k HID Foglight Installed PICS

Just remove the wheels and the wheel well liner. Allows great access, and is alot easier. I tried to take the bumper off, and couldn't get past getting the grille off.
 
Heh, the last kit that I bought for my Civic lasted 2 years and it was still going strong when I sold it. The kits also have a life-time warranty so no worries. Once again, thanks for the tips.

Good luck with it, it is really that difficult. The hard part is if you want to do this with the bumper off or on. It is easiest and most convenient for optimal placement of the ballasts with the bumper off but you can also do this with the bumper on.

To do this with the bumper on you just have to remove the stock air intake box on the driver's side and the coolant reservoir tank on the passenger side. Then you can reach down from the top to get at the fog light bulbs. Btw, longer arms help when doing it this way, lol. what if i have long fat arms :rofl: i dont want to get stuck. i'll probably try and get a friend to help, he's done it on a few cars already.
 
Ya my arms got really scratched up from reaching all up in there when I just loosened the underbelly stuff at first.

LOL, you will be fine. You just need one arm to twist the oem bulb out and install the new HID bulb. But you might need two hands to plug in the connectors to the ballast and wiring harness socket.

thanks for all the input. i think im going to try removing the bumper to install them so i can tuck in the ballast somewhere in there. last question, how do i know which fuse is for the foglights? is it labeled?
 
if i order a kit that says it has a "universal plug-n-play relay harness" then would i be able to leave the fogs in the "on" position without one of the lights randomly not firing up? or is that just a gimmick?
 
If you mean just having the fog lights on without the headlights, then no. You will need to buy a separate by-pass kit if you want that fubnctionality.
 
He means when sometimes the HID fogs don't both turn on, and you have to turn them both off then on for them to fire up. However, that harness he is talking about is needed either way. The whole thing is a moot point.

I'm not entirely clear on the exact harness you are referring to or think you are referring to, but this might help.

1) There is a plug-n-play harness that is needed to go into the stock wiring that powers the ballasts, etc...

2) There is an optional battery harness that draws power directly from your battery instead of your OEM fog wiring harness. This definitely helps the ballasts to get enough AMPs to fire up both bulbs. Just note that our battery is far from the fogs. You will most likely have to extend the harness. Some use higher AMP fuses, which I don't really like to do.

well i just took off the bumper and grill to install my HID kit. but after i installed it, it wont turn on. i havent changed out the fuse yet, is that necessary for it to turn on? or do i have a faulty kit?
 
The fuse should not be a problem right away. But when you turn on the lights does everything inside the cabin light up? Does all the rear lights work?

Could be a number of things, but are you sure you have everything connected properly? Can you take some pictures and post them up so we can see the kit and how you did the install?
 
Mine didn't light up at first either. There are many ways to plug it all together, but only one works.
 
wow im an idiot. i had the positive and negative reversed. i guess i was too excited and forgot to double check what i was plugging together. but now its dark and i cant finish putting my bumper back on. thanks for the help though everyone i really appreciate it. i never thought i would do something like this on a car.
 
There should be a way to retrofit(combine with a HID Kit of course) the fog lights to accept the same bulbs as the head lights. That would make it so
much easier to match up all the lighting on the front.. And would be so easy to order the bulbs too.. Just three set from the same seller.

Well I'll be getting turbocad's headlights so I can actually install a hid kit to the daytime lights and replace the bulbs to 5000k that would be a set. Second set of bulbs would be to replace the oem one for the regular projector. And if it was possible to retrofit the fog lights into accepting the same bulbs as the headlights that would make it three set of bulbs and 2 hid kits.
