hey wat up follow fx'er....i just brought bramd new belts(ac, pully) is there anyway that i can change them my slef and is it hard. people want to much to change them...any advice will help....thanks for the input.
 
Changing the belts are pretty easy, you don't even have to raise the car.

To change the a/c belt you will need to take off the p/s, alt belt first since it blocks the a/c belt from coming off.

Loosen nut A on the idler, pulley loosen the B bolt under the A idler pulley and remove the belt.

A/C belt - loosen the C nut on the idler pulley and loosen the D bolt under the C idler pulley....Take off the belt .

Install is the reverse of the above.

Any aftermarket belt out there better quality and price than the oem one ?

I went to the stealership and they were charging me 450 for the belts and labor.. I was like" I'll come back later.

Gator Belts @ Autozone for $25 for both belts. Takes about an hour to change, all you need is a 10mm, 12mm, 14mm sockets.

10mm - plastic underguard
12mm - for bolts B & D
14mm - for bolts A & C

You also need a tension meter, don't you? Unless you have a way to guesstimate it...

what is the recommended tension for the belts?

I normally guessimate lol...besides when you turn on the engine its good to double check and listen to your belts as well. any noise would be an indication of a loose belt along with the burning smell of ruber lol...

I don't know the exact number (look it up in the FSM), but that is what you use a tension meter for :) you press it, and see what color 'zone' it falls into. If I recall correctly, the tool has several 'zones' for warn, new, etc. belts.

...anywhoo, I found a video, courtesy of INFINITIHELP, that shows exactly how to do it on a G35. The only difference here is that we have MUCH more space than that.

You don't need a 10mm for the bottom cover, it's all done from the top. I never use a belt tension gauge. Just make them "pretty tight". I left one a little loose and it squealed when the A/C was on. I just tightened it a little more. No harm.
I suppose super over tight could wear the bearings on the pulleys, but just be reasonable. Sure as hell isn't worth anywhere near $450
 
just installed the gatorback belts. it idles fine and drives fine. However the first couple of turns i would hear this squeal. it would only happen when i am turning and accelerating at the same time the first couple of turns then it goes away.

what do you guys think it is? too tight/loose? if so which bolt?
