you can't replace the whole shifter assy with something aftermarket, well, ok I guess it's not impossible but not going to be practical at all. all you see people changing here & there is the shift KNOB, not the shifter. can't say how that blue thing affects an aftermarket knob though really, I never screwed with any aftermarket shift knobs on the fx...

That's good news Ash!

There is a place on Western & Olympic in the Koreatown Galleria on the 2nd floor that sells some car stuff. I have seen some razo shifters there but I don't know if they carry the momo shifter. You can go take a look there, but your best bet would be to look online for a auto shifter and your only quality choices will probably be the momo and the razo.

Edit...The momo shifter does not need the blue plastic piece to work the shifter but I do not know if the razo shifter needs it or not.

doc said he removed the blue thing when installing his aftermarket knob. nothing with the actual expensive looking stuff (more great technical wording) is messed up... just from the blue handle up. i can order a factory one but since its off i may as well look around...

Thats what I have (and most who have done the shifter mod) along with the +06 shifter boot. But my boot is kind of modded so it doesn't come up all the way and the chrome bottom piece of the momo shifter is always visible. I never took any pictures of this so I don't have any to post.

yeah... its super easy. especially when your old shifter was broken off and you didnt have to figure out how to take that off.
i tried to have it super low but it wouldnt register as being in park and the ignition wouldnt go all the way off. after raising it a smidge, everything is good
