What are the best headers?

Yeah,
I'm running the Borla's and like them alot..on the rasp, with HPC I did'nt
have it until I went with the testpipes. That's when the rasp started not very loud but it's there.I tell ya though doing the headers and the exhaust made a big dif.

I dont think headers will produce rasp but your exhaust would certainly be louder...i would suggest pairing headers with HFCs or test pipes (if not stated already) because you will see better gains. a nice tune will set you off well after those mods to get your A/F in sync.

Won't you have problems with the emissions tests if you get test pipes? Also I think if you don't get resonated TPs you probably will get that rasp.

As far as the headers go, there's no rasp with stock exhaust but it definitely makes it louder.. Doesn't change the tone of the exhaust though.. Mine still sounds like it was before but louder..

i am pretty sure you will have emissions problems if you get HFCs as well...it is against the law to tamper with the enviroment kinda stuff (not smog/carb legal or whatever) either way you will find yourself getting a fine.

if you just want a louder exhaust with some good horses then HFCs are fine (but more expensive), but if your are F/I or want to max out your N/A performance than Testpipes are definatly the way to go...i see myself leaning towards a set of Fast Intentions Test Pipes now...plus they are having a christmas sale (see g35driver or my350z)

Some shops advertise "Pass or dont pay"
Well you can also "Pay to Pass"
:laugh::laugh::wink:

messing with the cats is a big no-no, getting caught without cats is a couple thousand dollar fine here in california.... not only will you get a fine you will probably have to visit a ref for a full inspection. I would not mess with the cats or at least get stock looking hfc's if you must mess with the cats. Keep the stockers for emissions...

Don't mess with this cat...

YouTube- Don't pet this Kitty!! Pt. 2

I'll probably be looking into getting some added. I've heard they have about half the life as stocks. Is that true? What are some good brands?

If I have headers and keep the stock Cats - will that throw off the Smog?
Reason why I'm asking is I've been seeing a lot of those Smog Patrol things on the 55 Fwy on the on ramps -

The government is watching your tailpipe

Remote sensors will be on O.C. freeway onramps this week in a hunt for the highest polluting cars.

The drivers won't see much – a white van, a camera, a mirror and some other odd-looking equipment – and they won't be stopped. But their cars will be smogged and, if they are heavy polluters, a letter will arrive in the mail. Specialists with the region's smog control agency are in Orange County through Friday with their remote smog sensors, which shoot beams of infrared and ultraviolet light through the exhaust plumes from the tailpipes of passing cars.
The technology has been in use for years, but for the first time, the agency is not conducting experiments or fine-tuning. This time, they are serious about getting "gross polluters" off the road – that is, as long as the drivers agree.
"This is strictly a voluntary program," said Sam Atwood, a spokesman for the South Coast Air Quality Management District. "It's meant to be an adjunct to smog check."
The remote sensor shoots the light beams across a freeway on-ramp into a mirror on the other side. The beam cuts through the tailpipe emissions and bounces back from the mirror.
Equipment aboard the van reads levels of various pollutants – hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides – based on how the light beams are absorbed by the exhaust plume.
Meanwhile, a separate camera snaps a picture of the car's license plate.
If the car is a gross polluter, one that emits 100 to 500 times as much as an average car, a kind of invitation is mailed to the car's owner.
And the deal might be tempting. Car owners can receive up to $500 to make repairs, or $1,000 to scrap the vehicle.
If they earn a low income and are willing to replace their car with a low-emission used car, they can get $2,000.
The problem with the standard smog check every two years, Atwood said, is that many cars might be given stopgap repairs that don' last very long.
Yet the gross polluters emit a disproportionate amount of the smog that hovers over the Los Angeles basin, which includes Orange County.
And a car needn't be visibly smoking to be a gross polluter. "I don't know that I've seen one that was actually smoking," said Atwood, who has observed many of the remote sensing projects in operation.

nice find babaluwee, it seems he still has them. I offered him $550 shipped, lets see if he takes me up on it. I found some elsewhere as well for about the same price.

Does anyone here have headers & kakumei with the rest exauhst stock?
I would like to have it all free frow but also want it quiet. Would it really be worth it to do nismo headers and kakumei Y pipe if I were to keep the rest stock?

those don't look equal length, I got the stillens & think there ok too, there equal length like the nismos, there on sale now at $575 in stainless brand new...

headers & a y pipe should be an improvement over without them, but the rest of the exhaust being stock is going to limit the gains you'll see with them I think...

Quiet and Performance dont go hand & hand.
The quietest aftermarket exhuast that Ive heard is probably the HKS.
