"exhaust system"

I posted this in another thread:

US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312:
Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)).

Thanks guys, just checking to make sure....when I have exhaust installed I didn't want any warranty issues with this. All has been made clear now.....Thanks, full speed ahead with the mods.......

Thanks,
Mack:laugh:

I cant see them blaming anything on the exhaust to be honest - but then again you never know with Infiniti Dealerships. :mad:

Stillen or Nismo??

I am new to the forum and have just purchased a 03 FX 45 with 39,000 miles on it.

Thanks to the great advice on this forum and other's I have started to do the preferred MOD's that have been tried and tested.

Since purchasing the FX on July 23rd I have installed:

* Tint up front (Legal limit in GA 35% ... YUCK!!!)
* LMS Short Ram Intake
* Stillen STB
* H & R Springs (In Shipment as we speak)
* 06 Smoked Tail and reverse light's

My question pertain's to the Exhaust - I have listened to the sound clip and viewed install details on both the Stillen and the Nismo.

After break-in period which do you prefer? Also, what additional component's need to be ordered to achieve the look and sound that you have achieved?

What comes with the exhaust? I am assuming since it is cat back that it is from the catalytic converter back. So I would need to purchase a UT-R Y-pipe? Would this allow me to hook up to the factory exhaust manifold at 2.25" and run a 3" pipe all the way to the muffler? Is this the preferred company to purchase the Y-Pipe from? Or is there another that is a better performance / deal?

Any and all help anyone can give me on needed componet's to purchase (as well as place), so that the local shop will have everything they need in order to to the install correctly would be helpful.

BTW .... I love this forum - it has been a tremendous help in finding and doing the MOD's on my beloved FX45!!!!

Welcome JGinatl! Glad you like the forum and good to hear the knowledge here has helped you in your modding. Good list of mods you have already done too.

IMO, the nismo is a bit louder and deeper then the stillen. When I purchased my nismo it did not come with the Y-pipe so I purchased a UTR y pipe. But now the new nismo exhaust package comes included with a y pipe so no need to get a separate one, but you do need to buy the G35 extension piece.

I have heard tho that if the nismo y pipe is used it needs a little modification to fit the 45. You may want to ask trainerKen more about this as he has it installed on his 45.

As for the stillen, it will also need minor modification to fit the 45 and you can ask HumbertoCali for more information on this as he has the stillen installed on his 45.

Good luck with your modding and ask away if you have more questions. But if you look at prior threads on the mods that have already been done it should answer most if not all of your questions.

In my case... I was looking for a True Dual Exhaust option from the stock Y pipe and Nismo Y Pipe Set up.

Just made scense to me to have a Dual output to produce more power on my FX45...

What ever direction you decide to go were here for you...:biggrin:

Have fun:wink:

Don't forget about HKS Mid-pipe and Rear-section! 100% bolt-on =) There is one very small modification that is needed: 1 extra exhaust hanger above the W brace to stop a rattling sound. This has no y-pipe option, so you would need to go UTR or find another one.

It comes down to personal preference in sound after all the homework on fitment, HP gains and looks are done. No one can really say one is better then the other. Just make the most informed decision possible. Thats all you can do and then pray you like it after it is installed :laugh:.

hahaha .... your sooooo right!! I have listened to the sound clip from your NISMO as well as TrainerKen's about 500 times. When I hear the NISMO I get all JIZZMONIC!!!

With the exception of fitment issue I am all but sold!!! Actually, I found in the sale fourm, "I Think" a thread between you and TrainerKen about the issue, where he stated no G35 Extension needed but not much more info than that. Will see, well I'm off to watch you race around your street again. :rofl:

...and keep in mind that video clip was only a few days after the install... it's gotten even better since!

BUT with that said... I love the sound of the Stillen exhaust too

To me I like the Nismo vs the Stillen.
I've heard both Bertos & Dr's in person and the sound of the Stillen is a lil more raspy to me. Both sound nice on the 45 - some minor difference.

Feelings - nothing more than - Feelings......You know I Dig your ride, You're Sporting the Rhino!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Rhino... That's it.. I though you were going to say how you admire how FAST my FX is compared to yours....:tongue:

No worries... Just a bit of fun...

Can't wait to hear something from the 2 SUPER moderators:rofl:

what's cool about the exhaust mod is that it is both for performance AND aesthetic...

...yeah, who really knows which will give you more gain. But the one thing (for sure) that I like the Nismo exhaust better is the tips... I love how it has the "Nismo" logo that shows off the Nismo pride... apparent yet subtle... I also LOVE how it kinda angles up slightly...

It's actually one of the parts of the car a LOVE cleaning and polishing... I actually get down on my knees and wipe the muffler too (where it says "Nismo")
