squeaky brakes

I didn't keep my oem set up for too long but it did squeak in reverse in the morning. Mine was mostly rears doing it. The Stillen combo did not squeak so something in the oem combo is the cause of the noise.

i had my front pads replaced (oem pads) and rotors resurfaced and lately getting a lot of squeaking soon as i press the brake pedal. i talked to tirepros and was informed to try doing a lot of braking while on reverse (might try this tonight) to remove any glaze. anyone tried this before?

That's a load of bull. The only thing that might do is lower your miles on the ODO :err: Piggy is here to stay on them OEMs, Switch to Hawks, or just live with it.
BTW, Fronts are where the squeal has always been on the FX

the previous pads were oem and didnt cause any noise. i kinda read mixed feedbacks with hawks and akebono. ill still try what was suggested and will bring it back if the noise continues.

Even if they fix it, it's just gonna come right back moments after you leave the shop. I would rather squeal than turn my rotors every other week.

I have rotorpros rotors and they are pretty nice. I shouldve gotten the e-coating but w.e.. I put hawks in the front since the front does the most work and akebono's in the rear because I heard about the noise people have said about the hawks... Honestly I have had my hawks on for about 5k miles? and I have never heard a squeak or a squeal, I broke them in really gently.

I believe there's a break in procedure written on the box.I have yet to install mine yet, but is there any truth to it? It's like a hard braking a few times for a few runs.

Disk Quiet

Napa sells something called Disk Quiet and you put it on back of pads and any surfaces that make contact that could cause sqeeks.I have not used it on my FX yet but I have had good luck with this product on other problem projects.

The general procedure to bed them correctly is to brake 5-7 times moderately from 35-40 without stopping. Then do 2-3 hard brakes from 40-50 without stopping as well. Park the car, allow the brakes to cool down completely. Do not use the e-brake during this and you should be all set.. If you stop the car during this process your rotors may warp. Also if you use the e-brake while cooling it down, the pads can stick on rotors a bit..

As for squealing: The common problem I had with Hawk HPS pads went away after replacing rotors with Rotopros and bedding the pads properly.. IF you don't want to purchase new rotors or if your rotors are new/fine, then take out the rotors, sand it down with a high grit sandpaper, wash it completely, allow it do dry. Also sand a thin layer from your pads as well. This should take care of the glaze. Re-bed properly and the sound should go away..

My breaks have been squeeking for the past 6 months and it has been driving me crazy. I took my car to get inspected in December and they replaced the rear pads and resurfaced the rear rotors. They said they were bad and causing the squeeking.

I bought 4 cross drilled rotors with black center hubs, and bought a set of the pads rotorpros offers. I always use the no squeek grease between the pad and the shim that they sell in little packets at AutoZone. Blead the lines and the stopping power is night and day, and not a single noise from my breaks.

I posted some pics in my thread "RotorPro Break Upgrade"
