okay, but when I called W.Covina Nissian, and they said: "Yes, we have extensions here..." does that mean I won't have to make another stop at the muffler shop?

You will still need the muffler shop for the tips but what west covina is talking about is the extension piece for the muffler mid-pipe which you will also need.

The extension is for the mid pipe to the muffler section. We share the same wheel base as the G coupe, which is longer than the 350z.

Once the mid piping is extended out bumper is a little longer than the G coupe so the tips need to be extended or you will get a lot of cabin noise.

I dont recommend leaving the tips short......its way noisy. If you can you should try to goto Mikes Muffler in El Monte. I should have gone there in the first place.

He matched the passenger side to the drivers side - $30
So I'm guessing that its $60 to do both sides. You might wanna call ahead and see what the hours are on a Saturday

thanks, but I haven't even made any appointments with W.Covina Nissian yet... but when I do this, it will have to be a Saturday... so yeah, I'll have to call to see what their Saturday hours are...

West Covina Nissan did it for me right on the spot - I didnt have to make an appointment with them. It took about an hour or so. I took my laptop and did some reading on the Scene.

would I also have to extend out the tips as well if im only getting it from the Y-pipe back?

Since your buying from gq6967, he should have had them extended already. I doubt he would ride around with the tips hiding few inches from the bumper (not to mention how loud that would be).

I'm bring back this thread since im ready to buy a Nismo exhaust from West Covina Nissan, thanks to Rookie for the link(deal) and Dave for the push. I shopped around today for a local shop that can do the work, install and extend. I'm going with a guy that quoted me $160 out the door. I was told that the extended pipe he's gonna use will be aluminum.

I have a question for you guys that have gone with the Nismo. Did you guys have the shop use aluminum or stainless steel to do the extension? Do it matter? :err:

I
Did you guys have the shop use aluminum or stainless steel to do the extension? Do it matter? :err:

yes, it DOES matter, cause I don't know what Mike used on mine, but it doesn't look very good... I think stainless steel would be the way to go. Since Dave has a ton of pictures posted... a bunch from underneath... take a look at his.

most shops do not carry the stainless, that I noticed. That said, I had my Nismo with the alum extensions, there is no issue with the alum since we live in Cali and little to no corrosion from salt. that is my opinion.

Dave has the extention from the bend , I and others just cut after the bend to extend.

I got mine installed for $100 (remove and install w/ tip extension) ("Reasonable Mufflers" in Glendora)

Also make sure you buy the g35 extension piece. Last time I went to WC nissan they told me the part was back ordered for weeks, so I went to Performance Nissan (they had many in stock).

Mike uses aluminum - thats what I got on mine......
Dave is the only one that got the stainless, I guess thats why hes the Editors Choice hahahaha - kidding Dave.

I'm not all to certain Dave used SS on his extension. I doubt it. Have a look in his thread.

Aluminum.

SS is VERY expensive and not something most shops will have laying around.

Stainless all the way! . . Gil, you should make all new bends. It's much cleaner that way & doesnt look hacked. You also have a complete control on angle that way.
shop I use is off the 10 near LaCienega. Total damage . . $110-. Thjey weld nice, & measure carefully to get it perfect. They also 'blue grease' the can so it doesnt get burnt from the welding.
LMK if you want to come out this way.
