Cerwin-Vega VPAS12ST Spare Tire Subwoofer

I wonder if a capacitor could alleviate the need for a new power wire to be ran.

Did anyone take note of the factory power wire size? Or how much power the Bose sub uses in comparison to the cerwin?
I am not sure if a Cap will help given the fact that the factory power wire is really thin, somewhere around 18/20 gauge (dont quote me on the exact size).
It's better to be safe and run a designated power wire and not overpower the stock harness.

Did you run your ground all the way from the battery as well as the power wire? I got my power wire run from the battery to the spare compartment thinking I would find a bolt to attach the ground wire to, and I'm not finding anything that looks solid to secure the ground wire to. Any input on this would be appreciated.

No, I used a ground in the back of the vehicle. If I remember correctly, I used a bolt that holds the rear seat down to the "frame" of the vehicle.

Thank you so much S3R3BRO! I got everything hooked up and the results sound great! Just a little more punch than the factory Bose sub.

Greetings,

Has anyone installed the Cerwin-Vega VPAS12ST Spare Tire Subwoofer in a 2015 QX70? If so, does it fit without having to remove the spare tire?

Thanks,
TC
it does fit really well. gives a tremendous boost to the lows. i connected mine to the wiring that was already there from the bose spare tire sub. i think i should connect it to run off one the speaker wires instead. that sub wire is already configured and then the CV is configured and too much lows.

hi guys just installed the jbl spare tire unit over the weekend, sounds great but
my cover does not sit flush anymore, the jbl unit sits about 2 inches higher then the stock bose
did you have that issue with the cerwin vega?

thanks

Nope, the Cerwin Vega unit is low profile and the cover is flush with the floor.

Thanks for all of the info on the person Vega Dub. I just purchased one. It should arrive today. Now I will have to find someone to install it.
