Valve cover gasket preferred manufacturer?

Hey all. Tried searching but didn't find what I was looking for. I've noticed I have slow oil seepage coming from my VC gaskets. Upon further inspection, when removing the splash guard and looking upwards towards the engine from under the car, you can see a small amount of oil dripping down from both sides of the engine above each the exhaust manifolds. I suspect my aforementioned VC gaskets are the culprit. In addition, when I replaced the plugs in my VQ35 a few weeks ago I noticed one (just one) of my plug wells was near totally full of oil. I got the car with 158k and have put 5k on it, and there's no telling how old those gaskets are. Sounds like it's time for some more maintenance.

I figure I will try to silicone up the offending spark plug seal to stop the leak there before dropping the coin on aftermarket valve covers, and throw some new VC gaskets on it during the process. My question is this: What is the preferred part number/manufacturer for the valve cover gaskets for our VQ35DE? I was checking out a couple on rockauto and a handful of them (Apex, Mahle, Fel-pro) look ever so slightly different from each other. They don't quite share the same symmetry. I can't quite tell if it's just because the gaskets are soft and malleable or if they are indeed a bit different from each other. And I would hate to tear down the car just to realize I have an improper or poorly fitting gasket and be stuck waiting on parts or otherwise unable to comfortably finish the job.

If you've replaced them before which ones did you use? And how were they after you put some miles on them? Thanks for the help.

HI.. Only use OEM valve covers! I have been modding my FX for over 14 years and still going.. Lol.. Aftermarket covers are slightly off. (Forgot which brand) lasted less than a year b4 leak started. Replaced with OEM ones. Been 4 years without problems.. Hope this helps!
Remember.. Always use OEM with gaskets, covers, seals and sensors.

I've also heard the aftermarket plastic is brittle. IMO It's not worth buying cheap on these

Dig into my thread about sealing your original covers. If they’re not cracked or damaged, this is all you need to do and you’ll never have to worry about oil in the spark plug tubes again plus save hundreds. Not sure where it is, maybe page 15 on “onthemove mods”.

page 18, post 350. I was searching for this as I am currently having oil leak into cylinder 5 on my fx and doing research for how to fix it.

In case anyone else searching comes along these posts on their journey, to point you in the right direction, check:

In post 350 onthemove talks about this
