Hi All,
I need some help with some bulbs on the a 2011 FX 35 if you would be so kind. I have tried looking this information up, and I think I have most of it figured out, but still a little confused on a couple of things.

It started with a fog light that got destroyed by a rock or something. And now I have a DRL out and one of the amber side markers is out. So I have decided to to replace all the front bulbs in one go.

I would like to stick with Plug and Play options only. Right now I was only looking at the Morimoto's just to keep everything consistent color wise (5500K). I know there are cheaper options out there. Really I was wanting to make sure that I have all the bulb types right and the quantities right.

Other IS members helped me pick out new Fog Lights, so I think I have that covered. I am going to get the Morimoto ones listed below in 5500k.

Infiniti/Nissan (Round): XB LED - Fog Lights from Morimoto HID

For the headlights, I am going to get these: Morimoto D2S -XB35

D2S: XB HID - HID Bulbs from Morimoto HID

One thing I can't figure out is how many of these I need for low and high beams. Do you just need 1 bulb for each side, or do I need 2 for each side (so 4 total, 2 for low and 2 for high).

For the Amber side marker lights (not sure what these are called) I was going to get these below in amber. Bulb type is 7440. Not sure if I need the "optional" extra load resistors.

The DRL bulbs have me the most confused. I think they are supposed to be bulb 7443. I didn't even know that when the turn signal is activated they light up amber on the bottom. I do now. :) So what kind of bulb for this? I assume I need 2 of them?? But not 100% sure. I don't know if they should be the white or the amber ones, or if these will even work. Or if I will need 2 of each color. Not sure about the load resistors on this either.

I think that is about all my questions. I tried looking this up in the forum and was finding threads where people said the Sylvania list can be incorrect. And it sure doesn't help me pick out quantities.

Thanks All,

Biggy

I guess the easiest thing would be to get in there and take all the old bulbs out... :) But I am feeling lazy... and it's cold and rainy outside. So I am saving this project for a sunny day. :)

Ok. you only need one pair of D2S HID's, one on each side. you DO NOT need 4. the same bulb has a double funtion low/high.

now on to the good stuff, your headlights have the Amber side marker and it has the DRL (this one sits right under the turn signal). the DRL and side marker bulbs use the same bulb type. You can replace these with LEDs, this is the same bulbs as in the interior lighting, any 194 LED bulb would work. and you do not need a resistor. so you need 4 total, 2 in each headlight
this is what I used for interior lighting, amber side marker and DRL on my car.

the only other one that's left is the turn signal which sits on top of your DRL, its a larger yellow amber bulb, this one is different than the DRL. If you replace this one with an LED then you would need a resistor.

I hope this helps. If you are still confused I could send you a picture with markings on it. good luck

BTW, my car is a 2014 and I'm assuming the same setup goes for your 2011; can someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok.. Thanks for the help. I am starting to get it.

Just to clarify on the DRL's to make sure I got it.
So I need 2 194's in 5500k White and 2 194's in Amber for the DRL's? (and like you said, with no resistors).

Also, what does adding the resistors mean as far as installation? Am I going to need to splice wires or anything? Or is it plug and play?

Note to self: Order these below: :)
2 Fog Lights
2 DS2's For High and Low Beams
2 7440's Amber with resistors for the turn signals.

You can use the same white led for both the DRL and for the side markers. The side markers have a yellow tint that sits on the inside of the headlight and covers the bulb anyway, so it will still reflect the yellow or Amber color even if the bulb itself is white; I hope that makes sense.

I have not changed my turn signals so cannot give advise there. But the reason u would need a resistor is to reduce the current going into the LEDs so they don't flash too fast. Be careful where u install these resistors because they will get extremely hot and will melt certain plastic parts if not installed right.
You can get some led turn signal bulbs that claim that they don't need a resistor but the resistor will be built inside the LED housing itself and will get hot and might melt and damage your headlights in the long term. My advice is to keep your turn signal stock.

Thanks for the picture... that helps... I think I have it now. You did a great job of explaining everything.
