What went wrong with your FX today?

So went for an oil change today and was told that there is some type of coolant leak. He could not see where it’s coming from so don’t know if I might as well just replace my radiator and hoses instead of having them charge me $140 just to run a test. I know last winter my fx was without any coolant and added some but sometimes I smell coolant when I get out, so I’m aware there might be a leak somewhere. Don’t know what radiator parts I need. Also have to replace the belts. That I can get and have my buddy swap them for me

A few days ago the "room fuse" blew out twice. After changing the fuse for the 3rd time, the dome-light, and vanity lights all stopped working. Only lights that do seem to work are located on the bottom of the doors, glove-box, and trunk. To make matters even more complicated the welcome lights under the mirrors are pale red/orange color. I have gone through all the bulbs, and fuses on the drivers side, there are no blown fuses. In addition, I've checked the BCM under the hood. Unfortunately I could not get the second cover off to check the fuses located under the main cover. Which was extremely frustrating since it took me 30min to get the BCM out.... I forgot to mention that all of the interior lights are OEM, and no one has spilled any liquids on passenger side to damaged the TICM. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I managed to located a new-ish TICM unit, which cost $475

After installation of the new unit: Still blowing the room fuse, seat / steering-wheel will not move forward. Map light, Vanity Mirror, Push button start light no longer turn on....SO FRUSTRATING!!!

Reinstalled the old unit + new room fuse: Seat / steering-wheel setting works again, Footwell lights turn on. Map light, Vanity Mirror, Push button start light still not turning on..

Finally took dropped the car off at the dealership, after $155 assessment they want to replace the entire wiring harness at $6800

Someone please Help!! I am truly baffled by this, and even considering to trade the car in:cry:

I did a lot regarding the wiring harnesses under the hood and replaced a few sensors but still know very little about the electrical system but want to help.
- The fuse is there to prevent damage beyond the fuse. You replaced it several times then no more temporary fix. The "short" your FX has developed may have damaged the fuse's housing or whatever that is called.
- You're in CA. Rats or mice might've taken out a wire or 3?
- Nissan/Infiniti grounds are weak at the contact points. Preparing the surfaces for all grounds is easy enough and advice I've given to G/Z owners which has worked for various seemingly unrelated electrical issues.
- Stay away from the dealer.

I truly appreciate your advice. And will look into the grounding points. The dealerships still has my vehicle, they are getting in contact with corporate about this issue. Apparently there are several cases with the same exact issue documented via Nissan / Infiniti. Hopefully they will take care of this matter accordingly in good faith. However, I am prepared for the worst. Which in this case means possibly trading my beloved FX in for something else.

Here's a possible relatively cheap fix;

" Map light, Vanity Mirror, Push button start light still not turning on.. "

If these are the only issues, you or a stereo type shop could run new wires to the sources, controls and then to a fuse block or something right at the battery and just bypass this odd existing issue.

Check be as simple as low brake fluid level. Also could be sign of low pad thickness on rears.

You can also try an ECU reset. Disconnect battery. If that doesn’t do it, you can try using pedal method to reset.

You were exactly spot on. Rear pads and low brake fluid were the cause(s). Thank you!

Aha! Veterans know. Glad it worked

Dealer or mechanic charge can be sent to paypal address . . .

So recently I have been noticing that my FX has been leaking antifreeze but don’t know where exactly it’s leaking. The dealership said they could not find a leak thank god I did not pay for them to check it out. They told me they saw some antifreeze but I believe that’s when I had topped it off several times. Today I checked it and there was basically none in the reservoir so I went and bout some to add some antifreeze. Then I decided to shine the flashing and noticed one of the hoses has some type of green stuff which is most likely antifreeze. Hopefully it’s not anything more serious then just replacing the hoses. Is that the thermostat housing that hose is attached to? Some nasty corrosion there from the leak. You'll want to clean the sheeet out of it before you put on a new hose. Sandpaper? You may want to just replace it. It should come with a new thermostat as well.

I need to find the piece number for that

So I went to the shop, and the mechanic fixed where the leak was coming from which was the top hose. He also replaced the thermostat housing but did not replace the hoses because he noticed the radiator had a small leak at the top left corner. I need to see if I should get an Infiniti radiator or some other brand.

Some other brand.

Recently I have been noticing some noise coming from the front driver wheel. It’s not a clicking noise it basically sounds like if the tire has a bubble which I can’t see. However I really hear it only when turning left or when I tap the brakes. Can’t figure out what it is I already have to replace the radiator bc it shows it has leaked in the top left side.

Another winter same problem 2011 fx23 passenger front and driver side back door lock frozen again this never happen on my ex 2004 fx35
