How long are you planning on keeping your FX?

Probably never. This is our only car right now, and she loves it as much as me. Eventually, i will get something bigger for me but she will keep driving the 35 as long as possible. It will always look brand new and sexy, and that makes you want to keep driving it.

Looking to get into a new FX every two years or so... or however often Infiniti is willing to allow us out of our leases early for another FX!

Until the warranty runs out. :smile (2): Honestly, my car has just about everything I could possibly want/need. Infiniti (or anyone for that matter) will seriously need to come up with something pretty spectacular from a technical/performance standpoint for me to jump ship. The only thing missing from my car now that I would want is a heated steering wheel, obviously not a deal breaker.

its not a bmw or MB, when the warranty runs out on a Infiniti i only worry about maintenance stuff not repairs

I had mines for 4 years now, bought it with 57,000 miles on it, it now has 131,000 miles,i average between $3,800 to $4,200 a year on gas for it cause its my daily driver. I LOVE MY FX ! Have no plans to sell it, i just do not see myself driving anything else besides an FX. I would love to get the FX50 but can"t afford that right now.

Mine was bought brand new in '04, survived a two teenage boy family with no issues before she was mine, and is still running stronger than ever. Well over 165,000 km on the gauge. Unless she explodes, I doubt I will get rid of the FX any time soon. The first gens are bullet proof. Never driven the second gen, but I assume they are just as durable. Great, long lived vehicle all around.

I've always wanted to have an FX since the first day I first saw one yeears ago so I figured now that I've finally bought one I'd be keeping it forever !!! Sucks but I do get bored so quickly so I'm getting that ummmm " itch " again to change ...... recently looked at a Cayenne and a Range Rover Sport but I'd be taking a huuge hit on my FX soo for now I'll be keeping it.

Not for nothing though it's been one great ride  so who am I to complain ahem ahem !!

That's called the mod bug, Elaine. Time for a new exhaust? ;)

Kidding me !!?? I was ready to get a new exhaust last summer but Invidia didn't have anything for the AWD version so I simply got the tips instead ..... which I love but to get an entire new exhaust now hmmmm ??? I've been thinking of the muffler delete instead ????

No offense to anyone out there buying cars.

But one thing I don't get is how people can buy an expensive car, put a lot of money into it, and then eventually sell it???

I could go buy an expensive car once every year but that's a waste of money. I know it's just a matter of preference but buying, putting money into it, then selling it seems like burning cash down the toilet and I wasn't raised that way. I like buying a really expensive car and keeping it and getting my money worth out of it. That's one reason why I won't get rid of my FX. This car cost a lot of money for me back in 2010 and I want to squeeze every penny out of it.

Sorry for the rant and don't mean no offense to anyone. But sometimes I can't help but wonder why people do that. It's really wasting money that could be out to use towards other things.

^some people have goals for a car. A lot of people have ADD and get bored quickly. I don't have either but my g35 is the 5th car I've owned free and clear. Peoples needs are always changing.

U get a job that requires u to drive 100 miles daily, there is no need for a car that gets 20mpg. U get 3-4 kids and that fx is rather useless.

I put tons of money into cars, added a turbo kit to one. Modded the hell out of cars. Nothing extreme yet. I've only touched 350whp from a 160 HP at the crack engine.

U get enjoyment out of the car and that's priceless. My se-r spanked sti/evo/s4 on the highway. That is priceless to me until I realized annoyed of the torque steer and kinda grew up.

I keep looking for a 1st gen fx, but I don't know if I have a need for it.

I don't mean project. I'm sure not everyone on here looks at their car as a project when buying it. There are people out there that just buy a car to enjoy it and nothing more.

Either way when you buy a car, put a lot of money into it, and sell it on, you still lose a lot of money. Which in my 2 cents is throwing money down the toilet. And then on top of it spend even more money buying you're next car.

again this is only my opinion. I'm sure family related or job matters come up that leaves you no choice but to get rid of it. But if you're doing it because you're just "bored" it makes no sense.

A new Apple product comes out once every 6 months to a year, but you won't see me selling lets say my old iPad, losing money by selling it, then going to spend even more money to buy the latest one. If that were the case I would be broke even if I make a lot of money or not. Sorry if I'm offending anyone but I was just raised to learn the value of a hard earned dollar.

To each it's own. Some people buy a car for practicality while others may buy a car to use as a status item. The doctors here at my job drive anything from a Masseratti to a Honda Civic to work. They all make about the same salary, but have different opinions about what cars are necessary. So again. Do what make you happy and let others do the same. If someone wants to spend a lot of money on mods for their car so be it, everyone buys a car for a particular reason that is important to them. I drive an FX45, so practicality was not a reason. I could have bought a Volkswagen GTI and still have about the same amount room in the rear cargo area as I do in the FX45 while saving gas. However, I chosed the more sexier of the two and do not regret my decision one bit. Ok. Sometimes I do when I am filling up the FX at a gas station ,until I sit back inside the FX's cabin. :good:

"Value" is a relative term, Aaron. Some people feel that way about buying a new car off the lot as opposed to a one or two year old model that has already suffered the initial "new car smell" depreciation. Others would say that buying a brand new car before you own a home, have an investment account, and a retirement plan is a poor allocation of resources. Still others would argue that a person who has never been homeless, broke, and hungry cannot ever truly appreciate the value of a hard earned dollar.

It's all relative. People are different, and value things differently.

Bought my '03 in '05, after 12 years, (220,000 miles) replaced it with a 2013.
Sold the first one to my neighbors, still miss a couple of features, but the 2013 is Sweet.™

Poor folks buy things, rich folks invest in assets.

And by that I'm referring to assets that don't depreciate, or at least depreciate slowly.

Local Cadillac dealer had a sign in the 1980's "Don't waste gas...enjoy it...Cadillac." I feel the same about my FXs.

Keeping it until I start realizing I'm about to start pending a lot of money on this car with maintenance, and possibly upgrade to another Infiniti.

Damn bro that's quite a throwback quote. I had to scroll up to see wtf I was talking about. Haha
