took me almost a year to complete due to busy schedule and one headlight leak.
I was lucky to find a set of Turbocad quad headlights back in 2014.
I also wanted to change some things around. The set i received had tinted lenses, which is not my cup of tea and chrome shrouds. I painted the shrouds in gun metal instead, pictures were misplaced somehow. Thanks to Jefferson for spare headlight lenses, received them pretty quick. Next step was “baking” and reassembling the headlights.
I really wanted to put some demon eyes, but come up with a different way to do that. I used 2 led strips glued around the projector lenses and 2 inside the shrouds
Ordered the FXR lenses and did the cutoff mode. I also had spare lenses and decided to retrofit them where the turn signal is
wiring
drilled a hole on the side for wires
RGB controllers
painted insides
masking
Testing
and painted with high temperature paint. I also painted all the shields in gold
Sealing
also put the transistors for LED turn signal and painted black. Wired the switchbacks also
assembled and ready to put on the car
more wiring
left-OEM headlights(with angel eyes), right Turbocad's modified headlight
the result
decided to refinish the lenses next day, wet sanded them first with various grits
and clear coated after
painted the SunPass in black for a stealthier look
went on a rally to Key Largo
...and this happened, the epoxy didn't hold due to FL heat
took the headlights off the car and this time i bought the best epoxy available and put the lenses inside(still holding up... knock, knock), removed the transistors and put a regular filament bulb due to space issues. Cree LED bulb didn't fit, it was too long
and some fancy pictures from Wynwood
the LED's are off when the car is on. Only work as a welcome mode, when you open the car with a remote!
video and one more update coming soon!
