Work in Progress!
Ordered the BR201 3M vinyl couple days ago for my new wheel wrapping project. Same wheels, new look. Decided against the gold an black, because of my caliper color, but it's still my favorite wheel color combo... oh well...

The :iS: vinyl wrap strikes again. Man, love love love all the mods you have done to this car. How is the rustoleum wheel paint holding out.

Thanks. The Rustoleum paint is holding up pretty good. Just couple small paint chips here and there, not very noticeable. If I would do it again I probably put a thinner coats to avoid paint chipping

Started the wheel project 3 weeks ago. Thought it will take me couple days, yeah right....:disapointed:

Now I'm here

^Stripping the paint to bare aluminum. Spent 3 days doing that, not fun... at all

oh yeah .... I know how that goes .... :)

first time doing that, I hate this now:sick:....

If you're wrapping, why would you strip to bare aluminum? I've only had to strip parts to bare aluminum for powdercoating and that is a horrible job. I used aircraft stripper and have probably cut 10 years from my lifespan due to fumes.

Ze, let the air out on the tire, undo the 40 nuts, and take the center out would be easier for stripping and wrapping.

I'm wrapping the lips. The paint stripper I bought surprisingly had minimum odor.

I thought if I'm going to take the center out I need the reseal it later, but I guess not. It wasn't bad at all with centers on, it's all painted now, finally...

No, taking the center off not need reseal. Reseal when you separates the barrel (front lip and back barrel).

Taking the inner off the barrel is one of the biggest advantages of 3 piece wheels.

I know guys who buy 3 piece wheels specifically because they plastidip their wheels a different colour every couple months and that makes it way easier.

Learning something new everyday, thanks folks:good:

You know i'm in the wheel bussines. Have had so many clients that started these projekts to find out it is so much work and hassle. They imiddiatly have more respect for the work we do LOL. esspecially when they understand the amount of work and the pricing we give them. Good luck buddy you can do this. It 'll be worth it
