Yellow Fog Lights

I'm fairly certain there's a film you can buy that just coats the fog lights themselves. My 300zx had them. I didn't install them but it was 100% just a film.

The one in the video has an HID kit on their fogs.

1. You can buy yellow tint overlays and place over your fogs. ~$13?
2. You can buy fake 3000K HID bulbs and direct swap them out for the bulbs. ~$20?
3. You can buy a cheap HID kit and get 3000K HID bulbs and swap them out. ~$35?

You can wrap them with yellow tint wrap. I had mine like that for a while I also did my wifes car like that. rapujega.jpg

I did my fogs using 3000k putco bulbs, cheap and nice color. Had them for about 2 years with no issues.ve5ejyje.jpg

How would I wrap the 1st gen fx in the film cause i think it would be hard without removing the fog light

I did it without removing the bumper or fogs. Just used a heat gun a razor and a steady hand[emoji106]

Out of curiosity- what's the benefit to yellow?

There are all sorts of articles out there about this as to whether yellow light penetrates through water droplets during fog, rain, etc. better than white without reflecting back to the driver. Most will say no but for me it is a preference, specifically when snow is on the ground. I do find that the contrast between the white headlights and yellow fogs is helpful. In my M45 I had white in both headlights and fogs and with snow on the ground I almost could not use the fogs with the amount of light that reflected back, not at all with the yellow fogs and they're useful in all other situations as well. Again, purely preference from my perspective.

I just did the DDM tuning 35W 3000K HID version, 55W would be too much IMHO:

55W would melt the housing. Don't go more than 35W.

Film is pretty easy. I didn't go yellow, I used dark smoke since my foglights were the only part of the front end not black. Just patience, heat gun, sharp razor, and maybe a cut down credit card. I did it without removing bumper. Taking the bumper off and lights out would make the actual installation easier, but total project would take longer because of the time pulling/installing bumper. I know they make precut ones which would be even easier, but I used regular film and cut it to fit. Just installed, used a chizzler (specialty tool, cut down CC would work the same) to tuck the edges, and then trim with a sharp razor. Make sure the blade is not otherwise you may pull the vinyl. 30 minutes start to finish for both.

Thanks everyone for your opt in helping me do this. And what would i need to order from DDM tuning, 35w 3000k, (Do i need the HID Harness's or no, and Do i need ballast brackets)

35W
9006
3000K

The rest should be blank... I mounted my HID ballast with industrial velcro from walmart

It's possible to do it without remove the bumper.. that's how I always do it.
Simply remove the wheel wells and it gives you access to the fog lights.
The passenger side will be a bit harder since the windshield wiper fluid resevior is in the way

My yellow fog lights were $10 and have lasted quite a while. It's not too hard to change them yourself. You don't need to get HID lights for the fogs - the fog light will scatter the HID light everywhere anyway and is annoying to other drivers. (yes I know they are bright and many advocate using them to lighten up the road)

go for 2500k ish light temperatures. I like the Nokya yellow because they are cheap and last a while and give out great output.

On a first gen FX it's easy to just remove the 4-5 bolts underneath the fog light area and bend the plastic aside, stick your hand in there and swap out the bulbs.

Look into some PIAA H8 Plasma Ion Yellow bulbs - they run around $50 for the pair, so they're relatively affordable and pretty much the easiest and best looking solution IMO

I'm running the PIAA ion yellow bulbs also. I love the color they give off and the additional driving light is great.

I have yellow fog lights and i love it. I also have yellow halos for day time but the lights are def helpful
