XM to Sirius with NAV

Hello,

I just got a 2006 FX 35 with Nav and XM. I currently have a Sirius subscription and want to change out the receiver. I have the part numbers from a friend that works for Infiniti, but I read that the swap will only work with radios that do not have NAV. Is this correct? I also heard of people reusing the XM antenna when swapping receivers as well. If anyone has done this in a 2006 with NAV, could you please let me know what is involved if it can be done.

Thanks,

Owen

With the merger of XM/Sirius aren't they the same now? I get Sirius radio and I have XM.

I called both companies today and they are merged, but they cannot migrate the billing together. So they are still acting as 2 separate companies. I pay $7 a month for sirius, and XM with the best of Sirius (Howard Stern) would cost $16 a month. That is insane to me. I am looking into just replacing the XM receiver for the Sirius one. Just making sure I have the right part numbers and if I can reuse the antenna. I heard mixed results.

I think the tuners are different - but the antennas are interchangable? but im not 100% on that.

That's why I'm changing the XM tuner to Sirius. I already have a Sirius subscription and it would cost more for the XM sibscription in the long run than the tuner costs.

I'll probably try to install the Sirius tuner this weekend and I'll see how the XM antenna plugs into the Sirius antenna. If it's like other threads I have read, a lug on the XM antenna plug just needs to be removed.

Thanks. Grilley, if it works, will you tell me the part number of the Sirius receiver so I can make sure i get the right one? Also, my infiniti parts friend mentioned that there is a different bracket that you need. Not sure what that is for yet, but just heads up.

I just asked a buddy of mine and he said you would need to change the antenna also, the plugs on the tuners from xm/sirius are different.

I'm confident that I can make it work.

As far as I know, all of the Nissan Sirius tuners are universal with the same connectors. I may be wrong though.

I have been too busy working to try this yet. I own my own business so I wear all the hats. Maybe I can get to it next weekend.

OK, I did the swap. All I purchased was the new Sirius receiver (999U9-AS006). I was able to use the XM antenna and XM brackets. The XM and Sirius units are identical except for the antenna plug. You just have to cut a small lug off the input on the Sirius receiver. I used a razor blade. Very easy. The L brackets fit perfect. I called up Sirius and had them move my subscription from my old radio to the new one and when I had it all done, I got online, logged in and went to account and resent the signal to my car. Very easy. Then installed the factory hitch harness and hitch which took the rest of the day.

Any Pictures? I would like to see some pictures of the Sirius Unit and the part that you mentioned that you had to cut. also where is your OEM antenna mounted? Sorry for all the questions but this information would be very helpful to me. Thanks!
