Wrapped, Plastidipped, Installed Spacers and got a Resonator Delete on my FX45

My personal experience with the no name chinese vinyl is that its ok for large surfaces, but if you use it for areas you have to stretch a lot, it will come up lacking. Also, the adhesive isn't as aggressive. Right now I have 3M CF and brushed, hexis, and some generic green cf. The 3M and hexis are almost indistinguishable from each other. But the generic CF is different. It doesn't stick as well and is harder to stretch, also it tears easier when heated. On the FX, it would be fine since most of the edges are covered by the black trim. But if you had a car with a ton of angles and lots of exposed edges that could lift, I don't think it would work well.

I would beg to differ as I accidentally cut the front bumper 1 foot too short and was able to use the heat gun and get 1 foot of stretch on it with ease. I agree that some chinese vinyls are crap (i also experienced issues with the first generic cf vinyl i tried from china), however, in my opinion this specific supplier is a cut above the rest. Regardless of quality, I am very satisfied with the final result and literally everyone that has seen it so far thinks that it is a paint job... for $180 it was well worth it :).
 
The difference between brand and generic vinyls, that a brand manufacturer is guarantee that it will last a certain amount of time, won't leave any residue and won't damage your vehicle factory paint after you remove it. I just recently removed almost 2 years old 3M vinyl with no residue left at all.

IMO I would pay a little more and not going to worry that a vinyl would pull my clear coat when I try to remove it in future.

yeah im not really worried though. cousin removed this specific vinyl from his e92 335i after two years without any problems or residue so i should be good too :).

Hey guys, i made a post before saying that i could just post the suppliers link here. However, the vinyl i used for $180 is the same vinyl a couple of my friends make a living off of by reselling for $400-500 lol. Im lucky that they never charged me the inflated price tag of $400-500 and just gave me a direct link to the supplier. I would love to post the link to the supplier here for you guys but they told me to keep it to myself as it would obviously be bad for their business if the supplier was made public. Given that they had the courtesy as friends to send me the direct supplier's link rather than resell it to me and make a profit of $250, the least I can do in return is keep their supplier secret. Sorry about that! Also, thank you guys for the compliments. It really makes me feel like it was worth the 45 hours i put in wrapping. :good:
 
FWIW, you guys can find matte white vinyl on ebay all day long for around $200. Its one of the cheapest colors along with black. And most of the no name stuff is being sold from Canada. So if you want to chance it, go for it. But since it takes 40 or 50 hours to wrap a car correctly, I personally would spend a little more and get a known product. It would be very annoying to have to redo it.
 
Looks great...Im plasti dipping my rims , roof and grille(maybe side mirrors) in one of the new metal colors they have going with Anthricite Grey maybe throw on some nismo decals .................
 
Wow, that is an amazing transformation for the $$. Whole new car! Good job. Unfortunately I am not confident enough in my ability to wrap, and don't want to risk it on my baby!
