Hey Guys!
Just wanted to let you guys know that ever since i have joined this forum, my wallet has been empty ever since, i always tell myself that this is my "last mod", but just keeping coming back for more ideas :P ... +there are alot of FX35's were i live so i like comparing with others :smug:

Just decided im about to enter into the F/I club with my 2007 Fx35 AWD (with 33,600 kms on the odometer)
Here are a list of current modds that i have:

HKS legamax system
Stillen lightweight Standard Pulley set
MD 1/2" spacer
Stillen Intake

I do have a set of stillen cermic headers in my room not sure if i should use them with F/I or not ....

Im looking to replace the stock front brakes and installing the FX50 brakes ... The stock's SUCK !!!!!!!!!! ....... SERIOUSLY!!!!!:embarrassed:

I have been doing some reading through the forums , i have a few qeustions:

Would it be better if i choose to go for a single gt35r turbo set up instead of the JWT turbo kit? A supercharger is on my mind, but i would rather go all the way ... around 400 - 420 hp at the wheels would be more than enough

I have a budget of around 10 - 11,000$ .... im taking out 7000$ for the turbo kit, leaving the rest to prepre the vehicle for the extra power ..... I really hope that all this would be enough.... this will be a daily driver so i really want to put the life of the first

So far i know that i have to upgrade the VB, but not sure if i should forge the internals or not.... if yes what specific internals must a address to insure maximum life?

My main concern is cooling since i live in a hot climate that reaches around 40 degrees celcius :( ....so the cars safety comes first before power ... i would like to do another 50,000 kms ... so far the car has been driven 33,600kms so its reltively low mileage:tup: .... ANY suggestions would be awesome! thnks!!!

Oh yea one more thing, what cars have you guys beaten with your F/I kits? :wink (2): ... i have a friends 2009 bmw m3 in my sights that i would like to destroy :tongue (2):

I guess the best person to ask is turbocad6 maybe you can PM him and he give yo some good answers.

After talking to brad (jumbosrule) about his turbo setup he said it would have been cheaper to go with the JWT TT kit. Also the JWT kit is made to fit directly into the fx35, unlike going custom where everything is custom and custom is expensive.

Unless the labor is free, you might need a bigger budget. Make sure money is set aside for a potentially blown motor.

Isn't there a bigger chance of blowing ur motor with a TT set up than a S/C set up? Though less power, superchargers are safer in terms of the motor life I've heard.

Yea there is a higher chance of blowing the motor with a turbo setup ... i read somwere on the forum that people ussually have to de tuned their turbo setup to preserve the life o the engine

Yea i guess your right, then i again i think it depends on the parts and stuff that you choose .. I live in an area with high taxation ... i guess you are right ... may be better to use a raedy made kit .... other than the JWTT kit, wat other turbo kits are available for my car?

No matter what form of power you use - Nitrous, Supercharger or Turbo... you can blow the motor if it is not tuned properly. The act of tuning is adjusting the air, fuel and ignition timing throughout the rpm ranges.

Tuning is ultra important no matter which way you decide to go. In fact, I would pick a shop that's known for building 350Z and G35s and has experience with tuning them. A supercharger will blow a motor just as fast as a turbo with a bad tune.

We are very lucky to have the ability to tune the OEM ECU using UpRev Osiris. This is all you need for the JWT TT.

Building the motor's internals is a tough call. Our power is limited to the stock transmission, which starts to slip above 400whp. So if you do build the motor, it will never see the power levels it is capable of. That's a good thing, but is it worth the money?

Again, the JWT TT kit does not require built internals and only minor mods to the transmission. The trade-off is the power level. The most you can hope for is 400whp on the FX because that would be close to the limit of both the stock internals and the stock transmission. JWT's kit considered the whole package and designed for maximum safe reliable power. If your motor has relatively low mileage, it should be a bolt on install. Don't forget about installation costs! Mosts shops charge by the hour - from $75 to 125. Ask the shop how many hours they expect to spend on the whole install and what that will cost you. Could be as much as $3K. If you do go with JWT, the shop has to be licensed to install those kits. Closest location might not be in the same city as you.

I'm honestly jealous of YOUR situation because I would LOVE to do another turbo FX, knowing what I know now. I'd stay completely stock with a JWT TT and BC coilovers...maybe an exhaust. I'd also stay with the stock brakes. I've read your posts on the brakes and I think you just had a bad experience. I never had any problems with the stock brakes and still have them in the back. In speaking with Stoptech's engineers, I found that most BBKs do NOT improve stopping power. They improve cooling and faster recovery from heat soak, while resisting brake fade. They won't stop you better or faster and in some cases the BBK doesn't play nice with the ABS system so be careful with what you decide and how it is installed.

If I had another peice of advice, it's to have a second car while your FX is getting surgery. Even if they TELL you it will only be a couple weeks, things happen and need to be fixed, replaced, revised, etc. Plan on having about 30% more cash than you need. You won't plan to spend that extra money, but things come up, like upgrades!

Always happy to spill out what I've learned along the way. Good luck!

Brad, great info. I need to save up the after hearing your comment above about JWT TT. Man I need to stop all other mods and start saving up. I shouldn't have sold my in-laws Honda CRV!

Lance, JWT S2 CAMS looks good. About $5k for 300 WHP?

Great info jumbo,
Anyone know a good place to pick up a used TT or SC set up? I never see them on here...

Not for the FX - there just are not enough used conversions out there. If you want a used kit it will come from a 350Z or a G35 and will need to be modified. The cost of modification takes away the price advantage of buying used. We really don't have many options.

Great info brad !
Yea the tune seems to be my main concern, i have been to a few shops here and they all keep on telling my that there tuning capabilities are the best, speaking from expierence with these guys, they will say anything to get money out of your walet ... i have seemed to have found a guy that says he has a vortech supercharger kit available .. then again im uessing it will make no were near as much power as the JWT .... i would rather go all the way the first time though ...

Wow the JWT twin turbo kit does not require me to rebuild the internals??? Isnt there a way that i can "de-tune" the turbo to run just below the 400 whp mark? just to be on the safe side? ... obviously i will upgrade the VB, and my mechanic said it would alot better if i install a larger radiaator and larger oil cooler

When you said that the car would be "at its limit"... now thats when i SERIOUSLY need to find a good tuner :S ... im going to do some serious searching :S

Oh yea i JUST purchased and install the Front FX50s BBK on my car, it was a straight bolt on :D ... yea i get what you are saying about the stock brakes, they dont REALLY improve the stopping power, but i have warped my front rotors twice now.... i really hope the new ones wont cause any issues though ...

Now im kind of stuck between the turbo setup and the S/C kit .... then again i really LOVE the sound of a blow-off valve :DD ... Oh yea this might be a newb qeustion, but is it possible to set the turbo's to open at around 3500 rpms? that way i will be able to drive in normal conditions with little effect on the engine? Or is the Boost controller that sets the stress that the engine faces?

Yeah, hopefully no more than 6K installed BUT safe, clean, reliable power. Can't wait to do it. Not an easy GB but if there were a few interested parties I bet JWT would move a bit faster and grind out some CAMS.....

Hmm, no love for the VK engine? Cause I see S2 CAMS on JWT listed for $1200. So S2 CAMS cutom order?
