wow $50 well spent !!

thanks for the link chedman added it to fav. what does the ecu reset do with the k&n filter ?

The air flow increases, your ECU will re-learn to compensate for the larger flow. Note though, this isn't huge change and isn't necessary. Still good to do and reset your baseline.

... If you spray too much it can get on the MAF and cause lots of idle/throttle issues!

... when it goes back into service there should be no chance of oily residue coming off of it or it will hurt the MAF sensor... a common problem...

This is a myth. K&N has a no questions asked policy for covering any and all expenses related to MAF sensor damage due to their oil and to date not a single claim has been proven. Shops like to say this because it's a popular story and any easy way to blame the customer for various issues, but it's never been proven by anyone. There is simply not enough air flow to dislodge the oil from the filter.

Here's a link to an explanation: http://www.knfilters.com/MAF/massair.htm

FWIW I use fairly random amounts of oil on mine (until it's red, give or take) then let it sit for about 30min and have never had any problems.
