I have the 2007 Infiniti FX35 AWD Sport
this morning, I started up the car to go work,, around 50 miles on the freeway, the car just drives fine.
but after I took off the exit and drove it on the street, I noticed that the car was much louder than normal... ( not the normal music from the muffler)
it's from the underneath the car,, I don't have chance to drive to the shop today,
I went check online,, that looks like the resonator,, cost $400 for the part..

this is my second FX35, (sold first one to buy house) , Infiniti/Nissan is very reliable brand to me, crazy nissan fan (I had owned most of models from them)
but with only 55k miles,, the resonator is gone, it's kind of strange to me.
Is it a comment issue?
what is the best way to fix it?
should I just replace the whole exhaust at the same time? ($1000) :rotfl:

anyone can give me some ideas ,,, Thanks

you can go to an exhaust shop and have them throw one in for ~$100

parts like that dont always fail because of miles. Car is still an 07 and the winters probably got to the metal

Might as well use the opportunity to move to HFC's and a cat back exhaust (invidia is great).

Why replace anything with stock when you can use this chance to upgrade....:good:

Just realized you live in NY so you know how are salty winters can be especially on a 6 year old car.

Remember even though you have low miles at only 55K, time is also a wear factor not just the amount of miles you have.

It could just be an exhaust leak from a failed gasket too. Simple fix for any exhaust shop.

I really doubt the resonator needs to be replaced after 7 years. My FX35 oem exhaust was still solid after 75K miles in 7 years of Chicago street parking when I took it off when the car. I also would guess maybe just a leak due a deteriorated gasket like aiya was saying.

+1 on exhaust leak. I had this leak on the oem exhaust on one of the flanges in the rear section of the car. My fx had around 90k miles at the time and with this leak it was very loud.. noticebly loud. A stop to a muffler shop fixed it up.

I bought a replacement gasket (Thanks Soonster) and gave it to my dealer. They replaced it for me while I was having an oil change done. Took them a few minutes and the leak was gone.

Thanks for the posts guys.

I went to my guy today, he lift up the car,, we saw the whole gasket section between the muffler and the pipe was rusted out totally,
my friend cut out the gasket, leave both side empty, then ordered a short center pipe to cap on both side.
used two brackets to tied up,, fast and easy. 5 minutes work.
Totally $60.
Happy to drive it around now,,, and save $1000 for some other toys on the FX.
