Window visors?

Angus: I had the same problem as you during my install. Then I decided to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS.

Sounds like you're putting the metal bracket thingy over the rear weatherstrip. It doesnt go on the outside, you slip it in a groove on the inside of the weatherstipping. Seats fine if you do it right.

The fronts require a little finess but works and fits great if done correctly.

From my personal experience, most parts guys are idiots.
Then there are good mechanics and bad mechanics. I can do better work on my car than a few of my mechanic friends. A couple of them, however, are pure geniuses.

Nope , DEFINITELY READ the instructions , tried with clips , without clips , NO DICE.

Problem is the vent visors push the rubber track inwards so the window cannot roll up.

Wasted so much time and have heard other nightmares,

I WILL NEVER buy Macneil / weathertech EVER again.

They sell a product which will only work sometimes???

I have plenty of experience installing OEM and aftermarket window visors with no issues. I could have bought stick on ones for $30, probably still will.

I cringe at the thought of having to call MacNeil and hear their B.S.

I wonder what they will say to me , wonder if they will admit that others have problems with this product. I thought they had a superior product and it is really a shame that their product sucks so bad , I would easily have become a lifetime customer , but got screwed instead.

I buy a lot of auto parts and HATE companies that sell products that don't work. I guess another lesson learned.

I appreciate the help on these but I wasted so much time trying to make these things fit , I have installed so many sets of other visors without issue , even OEM honda ones that have 100 pieces!!!

I just hate to think that this is an example of the demise of American companies where you can buy offshore product for 1/4 the $$$ and it is better...

ok, were I think you went wrong is your trying to put the visor between the door & the rubber, actually in the channel for the rubber, pushing the rubber even tighter to the window. this is not how they are supposed to work. the visor is supposed to go right into the same track that the glass itself rides in, & the glass itself should touch the visor & rub on it for the last 1/4" of the window closing & sandwich it in there, first few times it'll be a bit tight because it's adding a bit of thickness but after a bit the rubber will stretch out enough that it just works fine. I had the stick on ones first & there garbage, ruined my window moldings more than they already were, but the weathertechs are great. if you smoke they are def a must have

+1 I love my vent visors and it did take some finesse to get them in the first time. McNeil actually sent me a replacement set because one of my original ones had a crack piece (i made) I really like there customer service.

I installed mine and it was a bit confusing at the beginning. But I got it right.. As John said you might have done something wrong during your install.

turbo is right, the visor goes between the window glass and weatherstrip, (even tho the instructions make it seem otherwise) its a very tight fit. i had the same probs during install, contacted customer service and they showed me. mc'neil makes pretty decent products, their floor liners are worth every penny imho, i'll be getting their floor liners for every vehicle that i own in the future.

Didn't do it correctly my first try either, but totally happy since getting it right!

I guess you could apply that phrase on many levels.

Well guys , I DID have it wrong - what is amazing is that I got 3 of them on the wrong way - what a dummy...

The biggest part of the problem is that the instructions seem to show thm being installed under the rubber. The rear window instructions show the clips going under the rubber on the horizontal part of the window frame and in fact they want you to put them on the vertical part - no matter what I can not make this work , I've tried everything I can think of , the clips make the visor pop off when I install them . I am currently using extra 2 side tape to hold them on but if I roll down the rear windows I can easily pull the visor out - I'm worried that they will fly off if I drive with the window down.

In front I got the non ruined one to fit on the passenger door . Macneil is sending me another driver side one.

To my surprise they seem to have GREAT customer service and I will try calling thm again to see if I can clear up the rear window issue.

Thanks again for everyone's help and if anyone has pics of the rear doors and how the clips work it would be greatly appreciated , I can't believe I am having trouble with such a simple thing...

ok, from what I remember about the rear clips, I think they do install under the rubber, you pull the rubber out of the channel & then get the clips in & then put the rubber back into the channel. now you install the visors like the front, in the window channel, not where the clip went, but the clip is already in there & the edge that sticks out kinda catches the edge of the visor & holds it up. that's all they do, if the clips in the rear weren't there then the rears would want to fall down when the window is opened. this is from memory so not 100% sure, but I think this is the way it goes...

Any chance anyone has a picture of the window visor installed on a non-tinted front windows. Just curious on how the tinted visor would look on a non-tinted windows...

gotta love the weathertechs... I had the stick on ones before these, they suck bigtime. #1 they'll ruin whatevers left of the faded window moldings & #2 there much noisier on the hwy... the fx roofline pours water in with even the slightest cracking of the window in the rain without these, there a must, don't know how some guys do without these really, they don't look all that bad to me

Aww man, I just bought the stick on ones just now......was figuring that would hide the ugly faded trim......how do these look? Any pictures?
