Widebody FX

Ray! That sucks on the engine troubles. If I did not have Technosquare during my build it would have been much more challenging.

* Timing Tensionar Failing
* Blown tranny wich took the Cranck along
* Faulty mapping of my Tuner wich resulted in detonation

That bothered me the most that each time it was something totally different.

What would the benefit be of an LS S/C setup compared to your current setup...? Still can't beat a V8 story??

A friend needed a motor so I was going to give him my Cosworth, sell the JWT TT and the LS was to try something new. The plan was 3-4 years ago so the LS was still a little bit new to the VQ cars, drift guys have been doing it a while though.

Nice..... your running it now for a while. After that often you want to try out something New. Did not read you had any issues so thought why change a winning team.

LS swaps are great. I've seen one in person on a G35, and it's so funny hearing it pull up like wait that's not the sound that car should be making!

I still want to do a VK56 swap one day. I like to think that will be easier to keep all the other systems like A/C and stuff intact keeping it in the family. And Titan's come RWD so that should help.

Progress on my other toy.

A few weeks into ownership, lowered with H&R module after VAGCOM limit wasn't enough. H&R module recently sold to another forum member, it's a good module especially getting it second hand.

Glacier on black, prestige, drivers assist, black optic, sport. Got a Friends And Family deal which was killer, 300.00 over invoice and the car was already on a lot so no waiting.

Some HREs from a forum member here. P40SC, 21x9.5 +35, Toyo 255/30-21. Wheels were on an A6 with Stasis brakes, unfortunately they didn't clear the OEM S6 brakes. A 3mm spacer would have worked but running a 5mm in the front only rub the liner on dip and turn.

CF mirrors, seller said they are used OEM. They are not overlayed CF and the weave is perfect so I'll assume they are legit.
CF_Mirror_caps.jpg

OEM RS grille from Alex@Europrice, top is OEM, bottom is knock off that came with my bumper. When you compare the 2 in hand the difference is fairly noticeable, the price difference is incredibly different so value is up to the buyer.

Got in on the GB for the euro tails, the sweeping function is legit.

Did a fair bit of research on the various RS style bumpers. Visually if you look at the side flaps and center bar some of the copies out there, they are using RS7 style components. Side flaps being full hoops and not just flaps, center bar on the RSy is not as straight as the real RS6.

Imported a RS style bumper from xuk-store It made it over from the UK fairly quickly, the shipper sent it as freight so had to do some importing process with UPS to pay the duties. Fitment was decent overall, bodyshop is in Seattle. I'm originally from SoCal so it would have been done better if I was back there.

Worthwhile change if you like to not look like the car next to you, yes the S6 is not very common but I prefer to be a little different.

At this point the car still only had 1200 miles on it. Got the ACC realigned at the dealer and did the 5k service since 5k will take me a long time to get to and I wanted the car checked into the dealer records before the go fast fun. Roc Euro intake kit had been sitting in the box since June.

Ran into some very tight clearances with the AMS catted downpipes. Clearance to the back of the engine bay was very tight, Achtuning was concerned about vibrations and other issues. Asked how I wanted to proceed.

Missed the last test n tune drag event in the Seattle area by a few days. Was bummed but all good, local dyno shop was free on Saturday. In all the years of modding and getting on a dyno, I've never had the dyno owner allow the vehicle owner to do the pull. From the driver seat.

93 tune, Seattle has 92 pump this is a splash of 100 to get the octane up. Hood was shut on the pull, next time I'll have the hood open.

Tried again to use the AMS catted downpipes, which failed miserably again. These were supposed to be revised from my previous install experience of way to close to things in the engine bay. Achtuning worked around it to get the Akrapovic installed.

Whoa. I didn't know you had an S6. Any chance you'll bring it to Leavenworth this year?

Leavenworth is like a drive/meet thing right? I usually am stupid busy in the summers but will keep an eye out for that. This thing has been fun, mods are size but have gotten some of the big ones out of the way. The brakes were UGH.
Awesome bro. Love the mods

Thanks Dave!

Your builds are always top notch... Beautiful!

Are you planning to go 100% and eventually drop it off at auto explosion for a full rookie build? Wire tucks? Etc?

Or are your keeping this build more simplistic? Whatever that means in the rookie world..

I'm walking the line of point of no return on this one. Everything is reversible right now, I don't need another lifetime dependent like the FX is.

I do imagine often what can be done to widen the body and go a bit more extreme on it. Must resist the temptation, plus I hardly drive very many miles. May will be 1 year on the car, I have 3400 miles now.

Track time soon! These RS turbo'd S cars are trapping high 120s. I'd be happy with a low 11s or high 10s pass.

Greetings my FX brethren. Long time! S6 is gone, onto a RS7. TL;DR there's a widebody at the end. :)

Could never stomach the new car depreciation of the RS7 so facelift cars starting becoming more available but the dam PODS hold was holding up inventory. Many many comfort seating cars available but limited number of sport seats. A few possible cars around the country popped up but the really good ones sold quickly. UW Audi posted a 2016 RS7 Performance with 12.2k miles, which was intriguing for under 90k ask, sales guy told me over email if I wanted to buy it sight unseen since it was going to be in prep for a few days before sale. I laughed, I wanted the opposite of the black car which would be several thousands to wrap. Buying locally would save me flying out to see a car and shipping.

Pretty much had me at hello but resisted committing. Achtuning did a PPI, no VIN in the APR database (check), turbo lines all dry (check), no signs of body disassembly (check), and suspension bolts never touched (check)
RS7_PPI_01.jpg

RS7_PPI_02.jpg

Car was not a lease, from what UW Audi tells me the previous owner was a construction company owner and based on the miles it was a pleasure car. 30 months from new it basically saw 400 miles a month and the maintenance records were on perfect for my liking. I don't drive much like this previous owner, my S6 was traded in with under 11k miles.

2016 Mythos Black RS7 Performance: Alcantara, B&O and Drivers Assistance. From reading and gathering, the US Performance model standard differences are below.

Overboost 605HP/553TQ vs 560HP/512TQ
190mph top speed vs. 174mph
DRC spring suspension
420/370 Ceramic Brakes
Red boost gauge
Drive Select button on the steering wheel
Soft Close Doors
21" 5 Double Arm wheels

I'm a pay it forward person when possible with knowledge and info, the general culture on this forum is pretty good with some very helpful enthusiasts sharing their passion. Noticed we lost some old timers and some performance heads, we all start into a platform only knowing so much so while influxes of new owners can bring up repetitive questions it's all a net positive to help each other out.

Less blah blah, more mods. OK!

Love the forums for used wheels, one of the highest priced mods you can do that depreciates like no other. Instantaneous 40-50% loss in value unless you find the right buyer at the right time [:D]
HRE_P101_01.jpg

Found a set of the newer HRE caps, if anyone has had HREs before the older flat caps spin. HRE logo should be straight with the valve at 6 o'clock, I'm OCD enough to always want it that way and have the wheel lock at 12 o'clock
HRE_P101_02.jpg

Black cars in the dark hide the massive wheel gap. 21x9.5" HRE P101, +22 and +27 offsets, Brushed tint. Wanted to get some lip protection and better than 6 sized side wall so running 285/30-21 Michelin PSS. Them dam side markers in the bumpers are ugly, most regions outside of North America don't even have the openings front and rear for those lights.

Had to take it in for some Warranty work. MMI button was 60-70% of the time working to select, this was just a bad button. SIM card slot seemed to never work for the previous owner. RS7 mats from across the pond. Have only seen hints of Audi Sport Exclusive RS7 mats but never really seen them. Pricing from a friend at Audi was going to be $800. No thanks.

Added Euro Dynamic tails from Alex@Eurorpice.

Was lucky and got a Basser sub enclosure, JL amp and sub plus the OEM panel already cut. Had to have a friend meet up in DC to pick up and parts and ship to me, the panel is incredibly odd shaped. Prior to this had meddled with adding a different sub which raised the bass a little but not enough boom. The B&O is crisp and clear but not bass heavy.

PODS warranty work had a long out schedule at Audi Bellevue which is my preferred dealer. Helpful peeps here said Tacoma was scheduling much faster, Kelly at Achtuning said wait to do engine mods if PODS work was to be done, which saved me from getting TD1 flagged. Had the oiling system updated to new parts while the downpipes were getting put in. Clean screen, replaced the easy to access stuff while they were in there so I have peace of mind for tuning.
