why there is a X show on backup camera?

I just got the 2010 FX35 with 38k miles.
while I put gear in reverse, I found there is a X show in the driver side mirror camera.
is there anyone know what it is about?
also the screen just shown the vehicle as a big square with four square around, but not a vehicle image. is this normal ?

I had that recently as well as the nose camera not working. Took it to the dealer who charged me a kidney to fix it. I'll try to scan and post the details once I scan the papers. But its something to do with the ground wire or some such calamity.

Actually, I think that camera still working even with the X on.
since I see the image changing while I fold the mirror, just don't understand what the X about,, and the birdview screen not showing the car image as the vehicle .
