Why do you love your FX? How long will you own it?

Hey guys,

Wanted to get input from the members here. I have a budget which I am looking to stick to for my next vehicle. This budget gets me in two directions: (1) buy a used car or (2) lease a new one.

If I bought - the only vehicle I think I could actually own and be happy with is an FX. Therefore I've researched and my budget will allow me to buy a 2010 FX low mileage, and hold out for Deluxe/Tech packages or possible a 2010 FX50 (little more of a hunt though) My problem with buying is the whole *BUYING* part. I've been leasing cars for a while (let's not make this a buy vs. lease dispute) and I am just not sure I want to own something for so long. I love the idea of getting a new car every 36 months but if I lease again I cannot afford the FX (too expensive new - for my pockets because I would have to have it loaded)

So my question is why do you love your vehicle and how long do you plan to own it?

It's the only car I will keep for a long time. Before owning the FX I switched rides every 2 years. I enjoy driving the FX every minute and will probably keep for at least 4-5 years(still not finished with my mods too:).

I consider my FX to be mine until the day it is no longer drivable. It now took the title of my main vehicle in the household. All the other rides I own I usually hold on to for 2-4 years. This is by far the most enjoyable and satisfying car and from day one it was a full on FX love affair. Spent 3 months looking for the exact color combo and flew all the way to SF to pick it up and then drive it down to LA.

Don't lease, personally I think leases are a waste of money. You'll enjoy the FX, even slightly used over a brand new lease.

And this forum as its members will provide you with a vast amount of support, knowledge and more:).

I'll run it till all 4 wheels fall off and drives me off the side of the road and kills me.

Wait, wait, wait, aren't you the guy that got a nice "beater" because you didn't want to put on a few hundred miles a month on your fx? :-) lol

I've always leased my vehicles since I enjoy having a new ride every other year but I've always loved the look and sound of the FX. I finally decided to purchase for the first time because I knew I'd enjoy the FX for years to come. I do love driving it every moment ...... whether going to work , grocery run or wherever it's such a pleasure to get into it and drive :smile (2):

With taht being said though ....... the " bad " side of me is already coming out after just 6 months of ownership where I'm already looking into the new rides like the soon to be released 3rd generation IS or even the new BMW 4 Series coupe :eek.: both looking to be really good looking cars ohhhhh ohhhhh !!!???

I never did any modding with any of my previous cars in the past. My mind set for cars used to have something nice and comfy, put on the gas, do the scheduled maintenance, point to the road and go. Then the FX came along and changes the way how I view my own ride. When I saw the Iridium blue limited edition, I was thinking of trading mine for it. Then again, when I thought about the work I did for the ride and how much enjoyment I had a change of heart.

I'd probably end up getting a new ride but I'm so gonna be keeping my FX until the engine block falls off its mounts!

I tend to keep my rides until they start having a mind of their own, when they form large rust spots, or they start costing repairs the size of monthly payments of a newer car.

This is my second FX. I traded my first one in because I wanted a turbo Beetle, and regretted getting rid of the FX... so here I am again. I don't see an end in sight. It really is a fantastic car that is timeless in design, so as far as I'm concerned, I'm keeping it another 10 years.

Im like a lot of these guys, in the last few years I have had an altima, g35, then a new altima sr, then bought the fx. This is the first car i havent thought about getting rid of after 6 months and I intend to keep as long as it runs. I even went and bought an older altima as a beater to save mileage on the fx. Then the story gets weird, changed my mind again and sold my wifes sentra so we could pay off bills, gave her the altima and went back to driving the fx. Then found out the altima was burning a quart of oil every few weeks so I needed to dump it. Found the CTS-V at carmax and bought if for her (30th bday present). Now I'm screwed because I love that Caddy... If I could trade in the fx for a new cts-v and afford it, i regret to say I probably would. I prefer driving a stick and the car is so stupid fast.... but for now I have to borrow hers once a week. Nevertheless, the fx is still great to get behind the wheel and drive and in reality it wont be leaving any time soon.

No need to lease man, the FX is rock solid and you wont be hit with a lot of repairs so buying one a couple years old will be fine. By the time you finish doing even simple mods it will be unique to you and you will probably want to keep it.

Bottom line, why drive a lease vehicle and have a car that everyone else has on the road. Honestly, if you drive an fx you wont see a ton of them like you do BMW etc and if you mod it even a little it easily becomes unique to you.

On a side note I was at the mall last night and on the parking roof there was a 1st gen fx34 in the copper like mines, but it was not well taken care of and looked rough. I parked nose to nose with the prick so that when he came out he would see what his fx could have been....

My plan is to keep my FX forever, even if I have to get a second or newer car. This is my second FX too and the second time around I wanted to get the exact combo I wanted and make everything right this time around. The FX is truly perfect, there is no other car around that really can compare. Timeless looks, reliable and relatively cheap to maintain, good in winter, practical (even for a small family) and great performance and handling. Not many crossovers that can do it all like this.

I was shopping for a new lease or purchase of a TL when my accord transmission was failing. (Used to be all Honda until they decided not to do anything for me on the tranny - recalled the same transmission in other years due to lawsuit - Glad to have joined team Infiniti - but I digress)
Couldn't be happier with my FX, and you get such a better deal buying used.

I have owned an FX but sold when gas hit 4.00 several years ago and bought a IS250, man what boring car. Sold the IS and bought another FX. I love the fx and also bought a beater to keep miles off of it. Leasing is a waste of money, if you are not sure what to buy. Get a beater and take your time.

I bought mine 10 years ago for my wife passed it on to my daughter & now I am driving it . Love it as it has been trouble free with 138k & tech package is still awsum after 10 years . Plus not many can tell the year as it looks timeless.
