Why are the lights on instrument cluster so dim?

Hi everyone. First off I would like to apologize if this topic has been addressed before, but I've searched and couldn't find anything about it. I bought my 2005 FX35 about 3 weeks ago and I've noticed that at night when the headlights are on, the orange lights in my instrument cluster is VERY dull and not bright at all. I compared the brightness to my 2004 G35 a 2005 G35 and my FX is indeed A LOT dimmer than the G35s. I pressed the dimming button all the way down to where it shuts off completely and then turned it up all the way but it's still very dull. Do I have a problem or is this just the way it is? Thanks everyone.

It's just the way the FX cluster is. I had a 2005 Altima SE-R before my FX and the cluster was double the brightness.

It's not too hard to see at night, but I'm just used to it being bright. The FX35's highest setting is probably the 2nd lowest setting on my G35. Not a big deal, but I was just wondering if it was broken or not. Thanks!!!

there already is a mod for that, it's called an 06+ cluster swap

the 06+ clusters are stupid bright, so much so that I really won't drive at night with it all the way brightened up, it's just too bright:smile:

Yeah, they are kind of dim, but I like it that way. I remember when I was younger and used to drive with my parents at night I would just turn off the cluster lights. That way they could not see how fast I was going. They would be like slow down, your going too fast. "Carlos, slow down your doing 80" so then I would just turn them off and they could not see how fast I was going.

Can anyone provide me with a link for the cluster swap? I tried searching for it but was only able to find only a couple links and it didn't go into much detail at all. Is it strictly plug and play?
