Why 1st Gen FX35 is so much slower than 2nd Gen FX35?

This thread has become ridiculous with the arguing.
At first, we're talking about how quick the Tundra was that I was pretty much neck-to-neck with after a red light.

It is silly, but I hope nobody is taking it seriously. "Vs" Threads are banned on some forums as they tend to get ugly. In this one 99% of us are in agreement. Then theres always that one guy lol.

One note about car magazine test accuracy and that Tundra...

Same car magazines that Carguy is claiming are inaccurate tested the 2007 Tundra 5.7L @ 14.8s ET and the 2009 FX35 @ 14.9s ET.

You went head to head with the Tundra and he was just slightly ahead. Woooulllldddd you say 0.1s ahead? lol

Yup, car magazines are just out to lunch

Edit; just saw yours is an 06. But then again you said the tundra was lifted. Probably evened the playing feild. End of the day the 35/45/Tundra all have the same potential. The main difference is the "nut behind the wheel" ;)

Come to Chicago, I'll put up my 35 against your mighty V8.

With regards to the "V8 Killer".. My nephew's tricycle will beat a car if the driver fell asleep on the light.

With all this bantering I'm not sure what we are talking about anymore, so, How's Onyx doing Ian?

He's just chilling as always.

Well as luck would have it, I have an office in Suwanee and one in Alpharetta. I'm down there several times per year. How bout I PM you when I'm coming down next and I'll bring my FX.

But then again if you were really serious you would have gone there by yourself by now and posted your time slip. I have 100 time slips I could post, just never taken the FX (only owned it for 2 mos).

FWIW that is the absolute worst argument I've ever heard - engine oil age? Truck of the year? Seriously? How bout we each go to the drag strip on the same day with similar conditions (VA and Atlanta have similar ASHRAE Bin data, look it up) and both video tape the runs and post the time slips.

But alas, I dont think you will. It'll probably work out that when the day arrives, you haven't changed your oil and its 'too old' to go drag racing :eek.:

BTW, is it a coincidence that the FX45 in your avatar looks like a short bus?!?
When you are ready let my know. I will meet you at the Atlanta Dragstrip. Now, do not install a NOS bottle or something. Just kidding:smile (2): My avatar is sooo big I had to squeeze it inside, but you would not know anything about that problem.

Yeah, plus I used the manumatic mode.. I doubt he did.
He was in a rush and cut me off before reaching a red light.. then a lane opened up next to him.
So I pulled up next to him (slightly behind, because the white lined crossing area was at a diagonal... me being at the lower end.)

I saw the perpendicular lights turn red, counted 1 millisecond, held the brakes hard and pushed the accelerator to 2k rpm.
Light turned green, released the brakes and mashed the gas.. so I had a jump making us even.
We were neck-to-neck and I had let off because a car ahead pulled up into my lane, so I coasted.

I was only surprised because it was a slightly lifted Toyota truck, but after the facts you've guys told me I now I understand why it's quick.

Then I'm assuming carguy was defending the whole FX35/45 name by saying that it would beat the Tundra in curves.
We know that.. I don't expect a huge truck to even make it only a track/circuit.

Then props to Justin for not replying to/ignoring carguy and replying to another interesting question by TurTLeG.
Justin answered with facts, then carguy defends the FX45 name with a lie. Why? I have no clue.
Justin and Stuart posts the facts. Everything is dropped.

2 pages later with jokes... carguy comes back with opinions. Then assumes we're jealous....because the 45 has a V8.
Not only is the FX35 more popular than the 45, but it has way more support.
We have a drag times thread; therefore, you can go to the drag strip and post your numbers/scan your slip sheet to the thread.
The arguing is pointless, honestly. It just makes some people look ignorant.

Just reread this whole thread.. and I'm not picking sides because I drive a 35.

Yeah 09+ 35's and the FX45

---------- Post Merged at 12:16 PM ---------- Previous Post was at 12:13 PM ----------

and I believe silver rails come on the sport trim of the 1st gen FX's...

Please reread the threads, because I was talking about the FX50S vs. supercharged Tundra in response to a posters comment about superchraged trucks being faster than the FX50S. I only mention the FX45 after some poster stated that the +09FX35 was quicker. Get you facts straight before you call someone a lier. By the way what lie did I tell? P.S. the silver rails do come on all sport package FX's 45 or 35, but no black rails comes on the FX45. If it is modded,so be it, but normally the FX45 has silver rails. I was looking at a picture someone posted, and do not know what FX was modded besides the wheels on the one on the left.

Feel free to check out the 1/4 mile thread for all my time slips. I was basically stock back then. Most significant change would be smaller tires and most recent runs were at a lighter weight to test that out.
