Why 1st Gen FX35 is so much slower than 2nd Gen FX35?

I bet you don't have that problem anymore since you upgraded to the V8 as well huh?

Sent from my HTC 2

Unfrotunately the FXs V8 just barely puts it on par with a powerful V8 truck. It's just too heavy - almost as heavy as a full size truck these days (4600lb vs 5200lb). Fx50 et - 13.7s. Factory Supercharged Tundra/Titan/F150 is slightly quicker. And you can mod any boosted engine to easily pick up 50-75whp. You would have to supercharge the FX v8 to keep up.

Edmunds tested a TRD supercharged Tundra which completed the 1/4 mile in 13.3 sec @ 103.8 mph (167.0 km/h).[24] Edmunds previously tested a naturally aspired 5.7-liter V8 Tundra which posted a 14.8 sec @ 93.7 mph (150.8 km/h) time.[25] Motor Trend's test of the supercharged Tundra resulted in a 1/4 mile of 13.0 sec @ 106.3 mph (171.1 km/h). This Tundra needed 4.4 seconds to run from 0-60 mph.

---------

Performance
FX35:[14]

300 ft (91 m) Skidpad: .82g
Top Speed: 155 mph (249 km/h) (governed

FX50:[16][17]
0-60 mph (97 km/h): 5.0 seconds
0-100 mph (160 km/h): 12.6 seconds
1/4 mile: 13.7 seconds at 102.1 mph (164.3 km/h)

So you are saying that a nearly 400 stock horsepower Tundra can beat an N/A Infiniti FX50S when the Tundra has a blower installed? Duh. You are right, horsepower do win races. The blown Tundra was probably making over 500 horsepower at the crank. The FX50S will still beat it on the regular roads due to "curves". The blown Tundra would win a drag race, but not on any roads with a curve. Can you say roll-over? The blown Tundra is good for only drag racing and towing, but not fun to drive at all on the twisties.

A guy posts that he got beat by a tundra in a drag race in a thread about comparing acceleration...and you bring up road racing as a rebuttal? Not sure you're on the same page as the rest of us ;)

Wasn't that the default option for any import that gets beaten by a Mustang or Camaro? "Well my car will smoke yours as soon as we hit the corners!" It's almost as good as the classic Honda owner default when they get beaten. "My car makes over 100hp per liter, so the engine is much better than yours!"

The FX isn't fast, I don't think Infiniti really intended it to be that fast. It's quick, but it's not a sports car. I'm not sure how anyone would think otherwise since they take the engine from a G and then add 500 lbs to it without upping the power at all. A V6 Toyota Sienna will give the 1st gen FX35 a run for its money. The FX is marketed as being much sportier, but a Lexus RX330 would give the 1st gen a scare. I mean, I love the car, but I'm not going to get offended if people call it slow...it kind of is.

My tundra can carry a pumpkin chucker? :p

I love my FX. I chose it over my 6MT G37s. Much better all around car! I just cringe when I hear people on a car forum assuming their car is the "fastest" in anything. There is always a much faster car, unless you are an F1 driver. But even they daily drive FXs :p

I saw an FX45 once stopped @ red lights , not sure the year but it looked on the older side, I was kinda looking at the driver when I pulled up beside him in '010 FX35 , he noticed me too and revved the engine a bit so I figured let's give it a shot. We both floored it from the lights and were were going pretty even till about 80mph then I let the foot of the gas as did not want to get a ticket (area is known to be ridden with radar traps) anyway I think he thought he "won" lol.

I am ok with just being fastER... not fastest ;) then.....

I know one time I was neck and neck with a first gen in the Tahoe. It wasn't racing, but rather my lane ended just on the other side of the intersection so I tried to get in front of him and merge. He ended up moving over though haha.

My tahoe seems slow compared to the FX. I like it, but liked driving the FX much more :)

Can you read? I stated that the Tundra would win in a drag race, but the Tundra is not as fun to drive as the FX50S due to the Tundra being a truck. Simple enough for you? You stated that the FX50S can be beaten by trucks that have nearly 100+ horsepower over the FX50S, and I commented on it. Same page, but I added a fact about handling.
