Whining noise all the time inside the cabin

I checked the Edmunds link originally and the noise described seemed similar but I've never had the iPod hooked up in mine and it occurs with the radio off so I dismissed it. But just in case tried to look at the article again and Edmunds broke all the links to the long term updates in the site redesign when they dropped the InsideLine section. Will try again to find it...Thanks.

No joy so far. Unfortunately, it seems to be more a case of what I find to fix the issue. Infiniti are being their usual useless selves... Based on what I've found out so far, it has to be the ecu causing this noise. Its a well documented G problem on myg37.com forum and also on the EX. Assuming the ecu on our cars is in the same place as the G37, behind the glovebox, that's exactly where the noise is coming from. The dealer did make an attempt to resolve but as far as I can tell just reloaded or reset the software on the car and reprogrammed my keys. They then told me they'd fixed it and the noise was gone. Yeah right....

I've managed to record the noise and amplify it a little. There's no way they can say they can't hear it now! With a spectrum analyzer I was able to show them that the noise is clearly at 10KHz (I should get a job with CSI!). I've emailed them the audio file and a screen shot of the 10KHz peak on the spectrum analysis which my dealer has forwarded to Infiniti Europe.

I'll give them a couple of days to get back to me before kicking ass again.
 
Minor result... Based on my audio recording, the dealer and Infiniti Europe have finally admitted there is a noise!! Car's going in next week. They've apparently ordered in Infiniti Europes professional audio equipment to help them find the source. I offered to lend them my iPhone as that did a perfectly good job! They declined the offer :smile (2):


I should hopefully know more next Tuesday.
 
Infiniti Europe have finally managed to resolve the high pitched noise on my FX. Unfortunately I didn't get to speak with the tech to find out exactly what they did, but the sales guy told me they'd replaced the ECU earth cable with a larger one and insulated the ECU itself from the car body using some rubber mounts. They also said that they would be issuing a TSB for this based on what they did to my car. I've spoken to my new best friend in the European Infiniti Quality Center and he has promised to find out what they did and let me know.

Bizarrely, it took a negative Facebook post on Infiniti Europe's page to get this sorted. My local dealer told me there was nothing more they could do which prompted the post. One day later I was contacted by my very own customer satisfaction person who kept me informed about everything they were doing including phone calls and a letter until they fixed it! I was amazed to say the least! Maybe they are learning....
 
Lol see this is what I recommended to someone else on here is to post it up on Facebook. If your not getting taking care of properly people should know.

I have the same problem with my 2010 50, it's the ECU unit mounted to the underside of the glove box bottom panel, if you drop the panel you'll see it and hear it even louder. Some added insulation will help.

Same here 2009 FX50S, I ended up adding some Dynamat sound insulation behind the glove box around the ECU. That helped deaden the high pitched sounds from the ECU and I don't really notice it now at all.
 
Hi folks, i have the same issue. I spoke to the dealer and they found that the ECM was defective and going to replace it. I dropped of the car on Monday and for 2 days they are unable to program the replacement ECM. Is it that hard to reprogram it or the dealership mechanics don't know what they are doing? The car is still under warranty but if it was not the ECM module would have cost ~$1500.
