Which mods do you regret?

First, I'd like to add Kinetix high flow cats to this list. Their install brought on a vicious rasp that was not my cup of tea to say the least. I tried to tame it with several exhaust mods but in the end it was the re-installation of the OEM cats that cured my problem.

Second, I don't understand this idea of bolt on mods not being "worth it". Worth what? If its money then what is the magical $/HP number that is worthwhile? And who makes that call? A $500 tune has been proven time and again to yield ~15whp, which is about $33/HP. By contrast a stage 1 supercharger kit goes for around $5K and yields 100hp ($50/HP). A custom single turbo kit - $15K for 200hp ($75/HP). Obviously those are very loose numbers my I think my point is intact. Bolt on mods are not necessarily less worthwhile than big ones, unless of course you go buck wild and buy everything available whether it works or not and pay huge install fees. In that case you may end up with a turbo kit sized bill and decidedly less to show for it. But i digress... Another awesome aspect of bolt on mods is the ability to DIY, which for me is huge. Its one of my very favorite things to do and to be honest I don't really care how much it costs. Its a car, not an investment, and speaking of things it isnt - its also not a race car. My personal enjoyment is worth much more to me than dyno slip.

+1 on Tchucks comments - I really don't regret much...... The thrill of the chase, the experimentation, you have to try. I would caution: Do your research, ask questions and develop a game plan. Seriously though, isn't this is a labor of love? I have had many cars and I can't remember not sinking considerable money into any of them. For me I guess the pride of individuality out weighs the cost of the modifications, anyone can just buy a car off the shelf at any price but when you see one that has been done right (in a car guys eyes) its just that much cooler. Only ONE time I felt I screwed up and that was when I should have bought my first house but instead sunk a ton of money into remodeling a 55' Ford pick-up show truck.

I agree with JB in some ways, I mean I've been through this with many cars and I mean a lot and I've also learned long ago that a whole bunch of little bolt on mods don't really add up to all that much in the end, so I too for the 3+ years I drove my fx, did not bother doing any of the little bolt on stuff, no CAI, no plenum, no ecu tune, no nothing, but it was in anticipation of doing one big project like at least FI, original plan was a supercharger and the only thing I really did in prep for that was full exhaust and headers. if you know you want to really go advanced then don't bother wasting money on all the small stuff, BUT...

on the other hand, if you know that you will never wind up ever going that far then maybe some of the smaller mods are ok for you too, I mean it may satisfy your urge for doing "something", and truth is that small things can still be small gains here and there, so for some this may not be so bad, in the end you have to decide what it is that you really want out of it I guess :)

Well said.

On my 35, I did regret spending all that money on H&R springs only to get BC Coils nine months later. Not there is anything wrong with the springs, but I wanted to go as low as possible and the look was achieved only with coils.

Guess this thread is ok to bring back alive
I bought new intake plenum weapon r intake and now bought a sc lol so I'll probably be selling the intake and plenum
