Where is nissan's integrity?

Why do nissan continue to put those crappy CVT transmissions in their cars. I talked to a friend of my wife's cousin who works for nissan. He told me that he had 12 CVT transmissions in his bay this week alone, and that was a slow week. Aren't they losing money? don't they care about their product? Why ruin a good thing by putting something like that in a car with such a great engine? The few cars that nissan have left that use a transmission are never in the dealerhip with those kind of problems. Would any of you guys by an infiniti FX if it had a CVT? :confused.:

Why do nissan continue to put those crappy CVT transmissions in their cars?...

Obviously because they are idiots with no regard for function, efficiency, making money, reputation, or their customers...

Seriously though, I'd be interested to know what exactly the problems are with all these CVT's in your wife's cousin's friend's shop that can be fixed so quickly so as to get 12 of them in and out of a single bay in a slow week. The "...and that was a slow week..." comment sounds like a classic mechanic's exaggeration to me...

Every manufacturer makes less than ideal products from time to time. Nissan is a business like any other and a rather successful one. If it was really that bad, there would be a recall.

After I traded in the murano I got a letter from Nissan. Basically it said they would extend the warranty on the trans, and reimburse anyone who paid for repairs on the cvt. I wish I could find the letter, I should have posted it.

took them a while to bestow us with dash bubbling warranty and cvt repair warranty and so on, but at least they did. brings some relief on us, to know that our wallets won't have to take a hit when problems occur.

Hey it was a new technology that they thought would be an improvement over the current tranmsissions on the market. They use it in there Altima/Maxima/Murano/Sentra/ and Versa.

MAYBE it didn't work the way it intended, but that really shouldn't be a knock on Nissan. My brother has a Murano, and has grown to like it..for what it is, and has had no issues with it at all.

Plus, now they're doubling the warranty specifically on the CVT? How can this be bad?...They are standing behind the product, and re-imbersing the customer for any expenses that may have come out of pocket. I say good job to Nissan for standing behind your products. Even if you are basically saying.."Hey this trans isn't working out very well" and taking some intitiative and not hidding an underlying problem....ie Toyota.

Other manufacturers have the same problems. And lest we forget it wasn't too long ago Nissan was in the toilet themselves...

I had scary moments driving my old Murano. I'm happy I got rid of it.
It was a 2003 and it was at the delearship 3 times due to the CVT and it's components. Also, only the dealership and work on (replace) CVTs.
