When will an FX design change be coming?

Am I the only one who wouldn't trust the blind spot monitoring? It's nice to be able to have that information readily available, but I can't imagine not looking over my shoulder to check. I mean I use the laser cruise which is a similar concept, but I'm not closing my eyes when using that. I do enjoy watching other people's mirrors light up when I get in their blind spot, and it seems to be happening more frequently so it definitely is a common option these days, and not just on higher end luxury cars.

Like anything else, it is another tool at your disposal, but it does not completely replace the need to shoulder check.

Just like how are backup cameras do not replace the need for a 360 check when backing up.

Driving my family car which has BSM, I usually shoulder check and on my way back I glance at the mirror to just double check in my own shoulder check I didn't miss anything. So I still perform both functions. It does make me a lot more comfortable when I only do a very quick shoulder check, and the system is remarkably good.

Surprised there is no chatter on the new Porche Macan. Very FX like , very fast !!
read top gears review. It did well.
Love the Air suspension option for lowering, twin turbo V6.

I don't love the style of the Macan (front looks nice, side profile looks weird) and it seems small. Plus the price... Although a friend has one on order for his wife, so maybe I'll feel differently about it once I see it in person. Even he doesn't love it, his wife really wanted it though. And it was the only way she was ok with him ordering a GT3.

I never heard of the Macan until now, but it looks real good - also seems to be rare (low inventory) so far. Fritz

I actually saw one on the road today. It reminds me of a Cayenne with a little cut off the top that appeared to be added to the hips.

Wow Fritz, thanks for sharing your story, gives us a really good insight into why you feel the way you do about Infinti.

I would still either wait till the 3rd Gen FX comes out, or as you said, get a different ride and trade in when it finally comes out. We can have preferences to brands that we love and have had a good past experience with, but we should also consider other options when theres nothing new that excites you.

I have always loved the FX when it first came out in 2003. I was in love with the G35 coupe in 2003, and thats when it make me take notice of Infinti's lineup. Then when I first saw the FX, I was like "what car is that!!!!" Always had a soft spot for the 1st gen FX, then when the 2nd Gen came out, I was like its time to own it!

The EX first came out before the 2nd Gen FX, so I think the 2nd Gen EX would need to be released first, then 1 year later will be the 3rd Gen FX. If anything, the EX is in much much more dire need of a redesign.

I forgot about the EX, that's a brilliant point, it came out as a 2008 model, which means it was on the street by july of 2007. That means we have already seen 7 years out of the EX's product line.

And unlike the FX the EX never even received a true facelift. Like seriously the differences between a 2008 model and a 2014 model are shockingly few.

The worst part of all of this is the fact that we havn't even seen any leaks of either vehicle.

Maybe infiniti is finally starting to spread out their product refreshes. Infiniti refreshed (or introduced) 4 models in 2 years (2007-2009). The EX, the new G37 sedan, the new Coupe, and the FX.

Now that the company has re-introduced the M and is looking at adding another vehicle as well, it is time for them to spread their product refreshes evenly throughout their lineup so that they don't have a serious crunch when it comes to the redesign of one model.

Makes sense. I thought the 2nd gen felt smaller than the 1st, especially the rear cargo area. I did like the added head room thing for the 2nd row that I guess would fit more cargo as well.

My wife and I saw and drove a 2015 Porsche Macan yesterday and it was very impressive. (My wife also liked it a lot more than anything she has ever seen before). I liked the car, however it was in white and no neat colors coming in. The problem in placing an order for a new one (in addition to a 3 months wait) is deciding on a color, based on internet photos, color chips, etc. There is nothing like seeing the real thing and looking at it in shade, sunlight and under indoor lighting. The car that we drove was not the turbo, but it was plenty fast - more than I would need. The cockpit was very impressive and the upholstery color choices were more than we can get from Infiniti. It can also be ordered without a sun roof (we never use anyhow).

In spite of a great car (around $65K or so with Nav - add about $20K for the turbo-charged version), based on my experiences in owning at least 5 or 6 FX/EXs since 2003, I would still buy a new FX (QX70) in a minute if one was available in a new color/interior combination, but I don't feel like waiting until 2016 or 2017! This gets back to my comments in my earlier posts. I wonder how many more loyal Infiniti FX owners are in the same situation? Lots of lost business as a result of not offering some improved exterior/interior choices. Once a customer moves to another brand it is not easy to win someone back. For Infiniti it is still not too late to offer some new paint and interior choices in the late 2014 and the 2015 models - this could make a difference in their sales. Fritz

I stopped at the Infiniti dealer today and they had a 2015 (not 2014) QX70 in Umbria with wheat interior. No change in body design or color from 2014 that I could notice. I am losing interest. Maybe some new colors and/or interior options will show up later in the year, but I doubt it. I am looking for something at least slightly different from my silver 2011 FX, and am now looking at the Porsche Macam S or Lincoln MKC. Fritz

Are the Sport package 2015 QX70S in dealers yet? Seems like they brought all the accessories from the 5.0 except for adaptive suspension and brakes. I'm considering trading for a sport and adding the Akebono brakes.

The only question is if the purple stitching in the seats is tolerable...

They also do not have the sport model seats with the thigh bolsters...

And yes, my dealer here in Vancouver has them in stock. The price for what you get is disappointing.

It's basically within the FX50s Price range, but you don't get the beauty V8, you don't get the big brakes, nor do you get the sweet suspension or seats...

I saw a silver QX70 Sport on the lot the other day, and didn't care for it. It's basically a cosmetic sport, as there really are no performance features to it. Also, I'm not a fan of the black wheels. I thought they were more a of dark chrome per the Infiniti description, but they are clearly black paint. I will say the blue/purple stitching looked Ok on the leather seats, but I prefer the wood grain over the black plastic trim.

This truck looks pretty good. Definitely need to check it out in person.

Anyone see any news on a refresh? I would think if a refresh was planned for this year, they'd be leaking hints by now.
