Wheel Spacer for Spare Tire due to BBK?

Anyone here knowledgeable about the spare tire on the FX? Reason I ask is what are the thoughts on buying wheel spacers (that don't use extended wheel bolts, so you can do it fast) like the H&R DRM series and if getting a flat, using the wheels spacer + spare tire for those of us that have a BBK?

I'll try this weekend, but figure I ask for any ideas beforehand. Doesn't look good as the picture below don't show much room.

I might have to buy an extra wheel, but the issue really comes in the width of the wheel fitting in there. Clearly the diameter will fit (unless you went larger).

The OEM specs I found online:
18" X 4.5" space saver spare wheel

Sorry Krayzie, I borrowed these pictures from you:

have you tried it over a bbk? I've been thinking about the same thing, a spacer should work fine if necissary, like keep a spare 25 bolt on type in the trunk... gotta check the clearance, one thing I never checked for  I wouldn't be too surprised if it fit the way it is too, kinda bowed in the center... maybe not...

If I'm not lazy, I will try this weekend. And take *real* pictures of my BBK:)

Yes, just to be safe, I would order a 25 mm bolt-on type. That would get us wherever we need to and then get the wheel/tire fixed and not be stranded or have to call a tow-truck (I do have AAA, but still).

I'll try to check your clearance too. I printed all the caliper clearance templates, and for Rotora, I made my own from the specifications. I think I had to do this for another BBK as some just give specifications vs a template.

It was kind of fun actually, printed all on card stock then started drawing out the Rotora ones. Then checked all the printed ones with a ruler to ensure scale was spot-on.

As a FYI, the 12 piston Rotora Calipers do not clear any of my rims without a spacer:rolleyes:

I'm crossing my fingers that this will work. That would give me some extra peace of mind. I could throw one of my winter wheels in the trunk as that clears without a spacer, but that would be annoying and take up a lot of space.

I actually had a set of 20mm spacers Ichiba v2 that I dont mind parting out. they are used but work

Hm.. interesting. Let me get back to you. Turbo, maybe we can split the pair since we both only need one...

I don't think the spare has any grooves in between the lug holes (I could be wrong, on my bb right now and can't see the picture). I wasn't sure if only the 25 mm spacers V2 were flush (lugs not sticking out) or if the 20 mm spacers v2 were fine too. Any ideas?

*Please check your own fitment, I did this fast

For K Sport, Stoptech, AP Racing, Brembo, FX50S -- you need at a minimum, 15.875 mm. Therefore, I would just be safe and get either 20 mm or 25 mm. Because the space saver wheel does not have that deep of grooves, I also recommend 25 mm bolt-on type.

Clearance is really tight using the FX50S template, so I would definitely double check this one.

Turbo -- unfortunately, I don't think any of the Rotora calipers will clear even with spacers. The 12 piston and 8 piston won't clear for sure (I made those templates). I checked out the catalog for the 6 piston and it's 201 mm tall from the center of the hub. I still think that's too tall to clear.

I also have a pair of 35 mm spacers that I don't use any more. They use a second set of lug-nuts and are wide enough for the studs not to stick out.

PM me if you're interested.
