I played with Plati dip Sunday to see if i like the wheels in black. I love it

Now I am wanting to paint them for good

I know to clean them with a wax remover etc first
then sand them lightly (i read online about using 60 grit first before the first coat)

I do plan to use the bedliner i have been reading about (looks similiar to plasti dip in color but more durable/permanent)

Anything else i need to know for prep??

Oh yeah i plan on several coats per wheel

PREPARATION is the key. this will determine how the first coat will end up being on the car which in turn will determine the overall durability of the paint. the point is to sand every single inch of the wheels. you can start with 150 grit. you should be fine. and yes, sand them lightly after every coat. be very patient and leave enough time to do this work. coz this is gona wear you out.

as for wax remover, you should be fine with some dish washing detergent. just my thought.

do it in a place where crap wont fall on the wheel while its wet. thats the last thing you want, dust specs, leaves, random debris flying around and getting on the paint.

also, if you are looking for something permanent why not use a gloss rattlecan instead of plastidip?

not using plasti dip that was the trial plan to use a spray on bedliner-it is more forgiving than paint easier to do it evenly. ive used it on guns, tools, tool peg board etc and i love the finish/texture not gritty but its textured a bit
