right now im running stock 20" sport wheels on my 2006 fx35. my current tires are

265/50R-20 111V Toyo Proxies

- according to toyo website the wheel fitment is

7.5-(8.5)-9.5

i want to run some aftermarket 20" wheels but keep my stock tires. the two sets of wheels im looking at specs are as follows

Size - 20 x 10
Bolt Pattern - 5 x 114.3
Offset - +45
Centerbore to fit - 73.1mm

AND
Size - 20 x 10.5
Bolt Pattern - 5 x 114.3
Offset - +35
Centerbore to fit - 73.1mm

since my tire is listed as 9.5 max can i stretch a 10 or even a 10.5 rim in there? im leaning towards the 10 set but really do not want to buy new tires. also offset wise are the aftermarkets going to fit well?

my main concern is really getting the aftermarket wheels into my stock tire as i dont want to buy new tires just yet.

you will stretch the tires. not good. not safe. get new tires

Definitely get new tires. Isn't the stretched look really popular in Europe and Asia on some tuner cars? I see a lot of this happening on older VW's and Audi's.

yeah, and I would do it ont he FX with the right stance but on 20's itll look a little off.... maybe with 22s or 24s you can do stretched look but IDK it has to be slammed too

so far im getting mixed reviews here. some say it is dangerous and not to do it, others are saying it is okay because it is so minimal.

the max rated for my tire is 9.5 as per toyos website. the rim i want to mount is a 10"

it would be nice if i could do it, save some money on new tires since my current tires are good. the only reason i wouldn't do it is if it is unsafe.

can anyone definitively answer as to if it is okay or not?

You will be fine using that tire on that width. Sidewall bulge will not be much is all. +45 offset is not great though.

is safety an issue at all?

so i know my stock 20" wheels are about a 40" offset i think. would a 45 offset be tucking them in more or sticking out more? what is an ideal offset?

also the +45 offset wheels do have a large lip on them, like deep dish, if that makes a difference?

There are much worse tire to wheel fitments done very day. As long as the tires is load rated it shouldn't be a big deal.

Moving the oem wheel and tire out 25mm is usually the safe spacer fitment. If the tire side wall bulge is reduced (the oem tires bulge like crazy) the visual flushness of the rim itself is probably another 20-25mm.

+45 is probably fine, but it will be close to doing the spacer thing everyone does. You're moving the wheel out 20mm, I ran a 9" +15 which is 38mm more than oem and it was ok except for some rubbing. Below is 38mm more than stock.

i didn't find another set of wheels that may fit better. i liked the first set more but if this would be a better fit i may get these instead. the specs are

Size - 20 x 8.5
Bolt Pattern - 5 x 114.3 ( 5 x 4.5 )
Offset - +38
Centerbore to fit - 73.1mm

would this be a much better fit?

also what is the process/cost in swapping tpms over to the new set of wheels?
