What's your FX's name?

I have always named my cars without difficulty, but this time I am struggling severely to figure out a name for my FX, and I've had it for a few months now!

The kids have more interesting names for the cars than us. Keep in mind they're 5 and 7.

FX45.............."Cruncher"
Armada..........."Star Scream"
Corvette........."Loudy"
930................"Speedy"
67 S-Code FB.."Old Man:

Guess I'm a little old and boring:

FX45.............."little truck"
Armada..........."Big Truck"
Corvette........."the Vette"
930..............."the Porsche"
67 S-Code FB.."the Mustang"

I realize I'm new to the whole FX scene, and I like the vehicle - but I just don't get the whole "racing" thing in these rides. They're slow in a straight line, and they don't hang in turns compared to so many other rides. If I feel the need for twisties, I take one of my rides to the track. I don't need straightline speed as I get that at work flying jets.

Not to be a sourpuss, and maybe I'm just getting old, but "racing" one of these machines, especially on the street - is just plain stupid.

Nor does IS advocate any type of street racing.

Not only is it illegal, but dangerous.

Everything is relative my good man. Comparing your FX to your ZR1 is tantamount to comparing said 'vette to an F-1 racer - Not really fair and certainly not flattering. As I said in the other thread; I'd race on a lawnmower if the time was right. Not because I think it would be faster than a Porsche in a 1/4 mile, but because I think it would be fun. If I could find a lawnmower that would drift in the snow I'd probably do that too. Obviously heavy (or any) traffic on a public road is not the right time for horsing around in a car, but fun is fun and a long straight deserted road is a long straight deserted road. Same goes for an empty parking lot full of snow, or a familiar and less traveled set of corners, or an unpaved service road full of mud. There will always be a relatively small contingent of drivers who have no discretion and recklessly endanger others on the public roads, but they are not the majority and their actions don't speak for the rest of us.

Now go throw your FX into some corners. You may be surprised at how well it does. Or maybe you won't, but it will probably be fun either way. Just bear in mind that it's not a sports car and shouldn't be judged as such.

I appreciate what you're saying, and got a heck of chuckle when I read you'd race a lawnmower if the time was right - I agree. And rest assured, I'm not comparing an FX to either my Vette or Carrera - that would be silly. This is an excellent machine, probably best in its class for all I know. I guess my point was simply there's always a time and place for everything, and racing a car against another one on public roads just isn't worth the potential heartache it can bring. To many sad stories where things have gone wrong, and more often than not - it's usually some innocent person that pays the price. We've all made poor choices, I just hate seeing what they can lead to - it's so unnecessary.

I apologize for the thread drift..........

Respectfully

Well said tchuck.

The FX is a competitor of the Porsche cayenne but better in my book. It being off the Z platform, drives and handles very much like a sports car unlike any other crossover. During my last meet cruise, I had sport mode engaged which stiffens up the suspension a lot and significantly reduces body roll in the turns, 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, used paddle shifting, trans has downshift rev matching, has the ATTESA four wheel drive system(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATTESA) which allows the ECU to direct 0%-50% of the power to any 4 of the wheels at one one time at 10 times a seconds, which during turns makes it effortlessly because it directs most of the power on the outside of the wheels and rear during turns and cornering. The FX50S model also has rear-wheel steering up to 1 degree to help provide cornering and increased handling response. - Back in the day when I had the mustang cobra lowered, if I took a ramp on/off the highway going 25%-50% over the speed limit, the wheels would squeal and I would FIGHT the steering wheel. You can go at least 50% over on ramps and you can make the turn with two fingers and your thumb if you wanted to and no squealing....that was incredible to me considering it's not even lowered yet.

I know some guys like to have a sports car during summer, truck during winters, and beater or whatever for daily. I'm just a guy that would rather do all 3 in the same fun car. Sometimes racing a guy during a turn while going to work, or making it to work on a big snow day faster than the other cars (with SNOW mode on in the FX) ***IN THE SAME CAR*** makes every day of the year while driving that much more fun. Then all the technology package offers is just icing on the cake.

:dito: I am in complete agreement with this statement.

I'm too have the same mindset as Jonas, why drives a beater daily when you have a nice fun car seats in the garage? You spent the time & money to mod it up and let it seat in the garage and drive it once in awhile or just the weekend is a waste to me.

I don't think my car is a "beater" but it's my daily beater car. Eventually, I'll have a weekend only car only for the reason that it will be a 2 door car, 2 seater.
