So,today I was driving my F150 pickup on 99, (Houston folks will recognize it as our Autobahn.) when a Gorgeous SUV pulled along my driver side.

My heart literally skipped a beat, it wasn't the paint, we can just call it Metallic Brown #2, it was the lines! Damn F-Pace is hot! It was like I was standing at a bar when I noticed the beautiful woman that just stood next to me was a celebrity, or a Victoria's Secret Model! Just for a second, but, Damn!

It's being followed by a new MDX, "Meh"
Then a QX 60 brought up the rear, looking sort of like "The pretty girl's friend," you know what I mean?

My question is this; you thought I'd never get around to it, how come Jaguar can set sales records with a theme vehicle that Infiniti pioneered? I mean the FX stands for Factory Experimental, Infiniti, are you seeing this?

The FX has always been beautiful to some people,in a quirky way, not everyone sees them as beautiful. On the other hand, the F-Pace can take your breath away.

Incidentally, I saw another one with paper tags a mile or so farther, Black, yum.

No reason Infiniti couldn't tweak the FX/QX70 into one hell of a comeback in 2019, or 2020, they have the talent do kick a$$ with a properly executed SUV, that's sexy too, not just Pretty Van, although QX60's outsell the 10 year old QX70 model by 20 to 1 I guess.

Okay, ranted enough, what do you think Infiniti should do do make a solid business argument to bring back a Bad ass FX?
(They can use the old letters, they stood for something.)

Saw one parked as I went to a local park... It's pretty... REALLY pretty... But it doesn't look sporty to me... Looks like what a RANGE ROVER should have looked like... Still, it was REALLY pretty :)

The F-Pace proportions are closer to the FX than X5 or X6 thats for sure. I really like the look of the F-Pace and is priced well too. I think the F-Pace has a more elegant look that would be more universally accepted/liked compared to the 2nd Gen FX, which is an either really dig the aggressive looks or doesnt do it for you.

I really don't understand how Infiniti was so damn lazy with the 2nd Gen FX and didn't even do a proper mid-cycle face lift, it was just the front grille. Even though a bit late, at least the facelift to the M37/56/Q80 and QX56/80 made them fall in line with the new Q50 design language, with the latest front grille styling and tail lights. Infinti didnt even bother with the FX and just basically gave up...

I think Infiniti wants to get their ducks in order before revamping the entire line. Their latest generation lineup started with the Q50 but only really got off to the right start with the new VR30 engines. And now with the new Q60, next the EX successor being the QX50. Hopefully not too long after that will be the return of the FX aka QX70.

It's just so darn ironic that the F Pace is setting the world on fire, I'm seeing them everywhere, but still rarely see an FXQx70, with 15 years head start, it's almost the same recipe, how one can excel, while the other is getting killed off, at the exact same point in time??

Sheesh!

You want to see what kind of enthusiasm infiniti is garnering these days, look at the QX60 site, last engine performance entry was 2013! A JX 35, that year.

Now those folks are a "Different Breed of enthusiasts," I gotta say. But they buy a ton more Infinitis than the QX70 crowd does.

Infiniti simply followed the money.

It’s true that they followed the money but the QX70 would have had more followers if it weren’t so expensive. They killed the V8 and put it on the back burner. Had it been cheaper like the QX60 it would have probably just as much sales if not more.

I was in the market for another car after my '05 FX 200K+ was destroyed. In her later years I took the time to modify things I thought could be better (suspension/ECU Tune).

Anyway, I looked for cars that could be like mine (just with HP I couldn't achieve without too much more work and $) so my options were the F-Pace S and he Macan GTS

I couldn't seem to commit to either and then a 2014 QX 5.0 came on the market (off lease) and IMO gave me everything I wanted (I'll still have to work on the suspension likely) for $35K less than the Macan GTS and maybe $20K below a decent F-Pace, and I can look forward to confidence in the long run quality and maintenance costs.

So with this trying to say, happy to be back in the fold again but with what I think is one of Infiniti's best ideas!

F-Pace does have very similar lines to the FX but it's all in the details and nuance. Jaguar pretty much sells cars based on design and looks. Infiniti sells cars because people want a "luxury" car they don't have to worry about - hence the huge disparity between the QX60 and QX70. It does seem like they've given up these days. The designers put the kinked C-pillar on every car and then all went out for beer and never came back. Lexus has that horrendous grill, but at the very least they went all in with that look and own it. A new Infiniti looks like a blend of all Japanese cars designed to offend no one.

I bought a Volvo because the QX60 is so boring. I never thought I'd see the day a Volvo was a more exciting car than the comparable Infiniti.

Ok, I'm thinking the F Pace looks like a Kia, now, not 100% but...it helps me feel better.
I just bought my '13, but now I'm thinking, "I should have bought a V8!"

To me, the Porsche Macan looks most like an FX clone, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC also has some of those FX proportions. It is crazy how contemporary my 2005 FX looks, most designs from that year look stale by now. The FX was definitely ahead of its time.

I seriously doubt there will be another FX/QX70. The new QX50 will have the transverse-mounted engine and FWD base found in the Nissan Rogue and/or Murano. Acura did the same thing with the RDX. The QX50, QX60 and QX80 pretty much cover the entire crossover range, and I think the demand for enthusiast's cars like the FX is simply insufficient to justify the cost of R&D. I had high hopes for the the QX Sport Concept, but at this point I don't see it becoming a reality anymore.

I'm gonna keep on driving mine until the wheels come off (currently at 160,000 miles), or -if I win the lottery- I'm gonna take it to an expert and have it refurbished back to showroom condition. The thing I miss most is modern-day connectivity like CarPlay/AndroidAuto, Bluetooth, USB, and 110V AC outlets, but the FX remains in a class of its own.

I was reminded of this last night when I drove home in my wife's 2015 Highlander, a very fine car. I'm used to taking certain ramps and bends at certain speeds, and was in for a nasty surprise when the Highlander simply ran out of grip and slid into the adjacent lane. Twice. that never happens with the FX.
