What lyes beneath!

That does look like a vinyl overlay of some kind, definitely not factory. On a somewhat related note, Nissan did used to put vinyl over factory paint on some cars. I remember when I had a Maxima, we were prepping it for a color change and decided to match the B-pillars. So we pulled the black vinyl off and it turns out that underneath was glossy OEM paint.
 
My window trim looked just that^ I just figured it was the usual rubber/plastic material most car makers use BUT when detailing the whip, I accidently buffed some of the trim. Turns out it was painted, just super dull and oxidized. So I hit it with some polish and now looks amazing! Matches the glossy black trim around the small rear qtr window perfectly. Blacked out my foam pads pretty good though but worth it. Btw I also have the sport pckge with silver roof racks.
