What hose is this?

I was changing the oil on my G35 and notice this hose that appears to be cracked with some dry fluid on it leaking very very slowing. Its not dripping but it looks like it leaked before. Its dried up. Its this small hose connected to the radiator next to that bigger lower hose. Pictures attachedu8edaha9.jpg

dealer replaced that on my FX, apparently there prone to leak overtime

OK thanks guys

One more question there is another hose that looks like the hose that leaks on the opposite side. It leaks too. Is that the transcooler return line?

So if its a transcooler line there is tranny fluid in it right? Not coolant?

Is it the transmission fluid or coolant? That means there's a separate route within the radiator for trans fluid then?

I noticed this hose was not wedged all the way against the radiator last time I looked for some reason. I was able to slide it by hand without loosening the clamp, which is worrisome.

The lower two lines in the lower radiator are transmission cooler lines. The transmission cooler doesn't go through the tube/fin part of the radiator, it just exchanges heat with the coolant in the radiator itself. This keeps it within normal operating temperatures - not too hot or cold. Also if you run an auxilary cooler, you still should run it through the radiator cooler in order to allow the transmission fluid to get up to normal operating temps.

All modern automatic cars have this cooler, if you ever had to buy an aftermarket radiator and you drive a car with auto or manual, you have to specify which one you have. If you need to replace this hose, it's easy. Just 5/16" transmission cooler hose at any auto parts store. Make sure you get 5/16" and not 3/8". I picked some up recently since I'm about to install an auxilary cooler and it was like $1.99 per foot.

Yeah, I think I bought that exact hose for my oil catch. I remember they just had a huge spool of it and cut off the amount I wanted.

I noticed it while trying an oil change without jacking up the front, which worked by the way, albeit a tight squeeze. Now I wish I had looked a bit more to see where they went and stuff.

Wow only $1.99? Are you sure the OEM size is 5/16". If its off slightly it could leak.

I checked at Infiniti and they want $15 for this damn hose that looks like it costs no more than a fee bucks lol.

Also should I replaced the clamps with those clamps that you screw to tighten it or just reuse those old OEM pinch clamps??

How long is the $15 hose? I paid $1.99 per foot, so depending on how much you need...I don't know how long the OEM hose is, but it looks like maybe 3-4 ft? 5/16" is what I measured and what the G35 guys use, as well as the size of the fittings on my B&M tranny cooler. I think it's a standard or something. I am using worm gear clamps just because I have a ton of them but if the old clamp is good, I don't see why you couldn't reuse.

Do you think these clamps are better than OEM pinch clamps?

These clamps are only a dollar something so it wouldn't hurt for piece of mind
