I was wondering what grease should I be using to lubricate the locks and hinges with? The factory service manual states to use NLGI No. 2 (Lithium soap base) grease. I noticed the grease on the locks and hinges that came from the factory are covered in a thick heavy black type grease. I was wondering is it okay to use any grease? I have a can of Napa Lithium grease, but I don't know if thats the same.

It probably came with the some lithium complex grease (or something of the sort) from the factory, which is compatible with the one you have.

I've never had a problem using the lithium soap on the any parts you're describing. Maybe someone else more knowledgeable will chime in.

That's what I was thinking. Wouldn't the WD-40 just be temporary, then end up drying out? I think lithium grease is for more longer lasting applications.

Oh thanks for the heads up it's starting to squeak now can you buy this at the dealer

You should be able to buy white lithium at any major parts store ; napa, advance auto, cap... yeah don't use wd-40 it'll just run down get messy. Only used for a quick fix. If you want a quality penetrating oil look for PB

. Keep in mind this isn't for door handles.

What about NLGI No. 2? The service manual says to use that, but I can't find it no where. I think Mobil 1 makes that....

It says it's for wheel bearings, disc brakes, chassis lubrication, and all other automotive needs. And it's NLGI #2 grease as recommend in the service manual:
