What do you dislike most about your FX?

First gen seat material is definitely not up to par of what I would have liked. Then again, I'm not exactly careful when I enter and exit. :sluggish:

Let's be real. the leather quality is sub-par compared to other "luxury" lines….Regardless of whether or not you condition it or take care of it. It boils down to how much you drive, your size, weight etc. I've noticed my broad shoulders move the padding in the sides of the seats in both my current FX and in my last FX. I mean I'm a big guy but I've got friends with other, more expensive vehicles that are both larger and smaller than I am, and most of their car's seats held up much better than mine. That's part of getting such a "deal" on these cars while comparing with some of the more expensive competitors. I've seen 20 year old luxury vehicles with leather that looks newer than mine, while I've also seen cars newer than mine with worse looking leather…..

Man, you are 100% correct. It is not about age, but seat quality and usage. I have also noticed the certain used makes, like Lexus, for example nearly all have perfect looking seats even though they are 10+ years old and newer used Hyundai Geneses less <5 years old that have seats that look more worn than what a luxury car seat should look in my opinion only after a few years of use. Unfortunately, it seems we FX owners have to live with "average" quality seats ,while babying them with expensive leather products to help them last a bit longer since a few owners claim that it saves their seats from premature wear,in trade for an affordable great looking performance SUV. A trade I am willing to make again if necessary.:good:

I continue to be surprised with all the seat complaints. Maybe I'm just lucky with mine. With 144k miles and 10-11 years old, I've only had 1 small and insignificant tear with my 215 lb arse climbing in and out regularly.

I guess some of us have OCD about imperfections in our seats.:smile (2): I have one small rip also, but I would not call it insignificant. However, my tear started as a crease at about 5 years old and opened when my FX was 7years old. I own a few cars that had seats that held up better that was older. So that is why I am complaining, because I treat all my leather seats the same way. So I blame the rip on the low quality vinyl parts used in the seats. However, the real leather portion "butt area" of my seat is flawless. I wished that Infiniti would have done the whole seat in whatever leather they used for the center section.

Yeah, there's a tear in my seat... Where all 1st gens have the tear. I thought it was me, until I saw a thread on it

Sent from my SGH-M919 2

The leather seat pad is not the problem, it's the pleather lower side panels that are the issue. Of course this is effected more or less by use, how one enters or exits, size and weight of driver. But over all I think Infiniti used less than quality materials on this part of the seat.

I've noticed people complain about road noise, this is more an issue of the road surface type. Holy crap New Mexico has the worst roads. Going from AZ to NM I wanted to go crazy. AZ had such quiet roads, I could just barely hear the hum of my tires, slight exhaust tone, and a bit of wind. There was no radio reception so I was enjoying the silence. Then "Welcome to New Mexico, land of enchantment" and WHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR loud roads. At least it keeps you awake.

I hate the orange gauge cluster in my 05 fx35 would love to do the blue light gauge cluster

Agreed, this is the only thing I don't like if only there was a toggle to choose between 8 colors. The I-see-BLUE thread will be coming in handy!!!!. Also flat plastic underneath the front bumper wth is that lol

I hate that I don't have enough money to do everything I want to it!! Wish I could do it all at once :)

Also, my only gripe is that I think the FX is underpowered compared to what other brands are putting out there. They next gen they need to put out
a version that can compete with the X6M, Cayenne Turbo, and SRT8. Just throw in a GTR engine and tone it down for an SUV...

i hate that the cruise control wont work if you have SNOW on, i used to use my Cruise all the time going 60 with 4WD on with my truck, never an issue

The reasoning behind that is safety. Under normal circumstances using cruise control snowy roads is probably not the safest thing you can do.

I think the cruise doesnt work when you have your wind-shield wipers on as well.

Ya im not a fan. My truck had AWD. All time not only to 19 mph. Cruise control worked fine. I see no reason for cruise not to work with windshield wipers.

WTF? Are you serious? I have had it mistaken for a PORSCHE couple of times, or some people have no idea what it is, and are eager to find out! Only the REDNECKS don't like it!

If somebody mistook the FX for a porsche, is it so outrageous they mistook it for any other SUV?

I have had plenty of non car people call it a lexus, even though I have told them its an infiniti. Some people just don't know or aren't that into cars, so they don't see the difference.

Part of your trucks goal isn't to still be sporty. The FX is still meant to be a sporty vehicle, which is why it transitions to RWD after a set speed.

Yes, understand that for sure, truck was for a sure a utility vehicle, I DO wish the FX had an option to LOCK IN 4WD, but understand what its intent is. i hope it does OK in the winter though, as the truck is gone.

Its a great winter car, you won't have any problems there.

I put mine through some pretty terrible stuff and it did exceptionally.

Do understand as well that above the RWD threshold if the car feels a slip and it thinks it can compensate for it by transferring power to the front wheels slightly it will do so. The AWD system does have the ability to do this.

I hate the fact that in 2007 model, in a relatively higher class car, bluetooth wasn't standard. I know I got a base model but come on, bluetooth? My TL had that standard in 2005. Also the headrests are just retarded. They look cool but they don't do anything to support anything
