Did an oil change, K&N HP-1010 oil filter and Rotella T6. Used this new oil pan I bought http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JFJLQA, best pan I have ever used, didn't even spill a drop... ok maybe one drop.

I've only seen Rotella at Walmart. I should try it for fun on my other cars instead of Mobil1 synthetic.

Changed the oil.
Going to run Mobile 1 instead of my usual Amsoil to see how dark it is after 5k. Maybe I'll make the full-time switch.

O, there is a giant thread about engine oil for VQ35DE and I believe amsoil did pretty poorly. One of the best brand according to the very very long thread is the Castrol Syntec European blend. I will be switching to this as soon as I get my car back =(

the dealer tells me to change my oil still every 3000 to 3500 miles even though i use synthetic mobile one oil is this true ?
If your vehicle is still under warranty I would follow the owner manuals recommended change intervals. After that you can use extended oil change intervals if you wish, as for when...it really depends on your driving habits and vehicle condition. Using a company like Blackstone Labs can help analyze your used oil and recommend an oil change frequency based off of their findings -> http://www.blackstone-labs.com/
Out of warranty though, modern synthetics have been known to last over 5,000+ miles.

After warranty I would do 7500 miles. Thats what I was doing on the g37 with pennzoil platinum
