Well my FX experience just took a turn for the worse..

There's a label in front passenger engine area. It's also on the bottom of the windshield in front of the driver's side. Also, on the firewall under the hood in the middle in large letters.
This link shows two of them, not posting the pic because it's huge. Scroll down to near the bottom and click on the 03-08 V8 engine cover link.

in adition to all the normal places to find a vin, many cars will have a vin hidden in the structure of the unibody, usually under the sheet metal of one of the sill plates... usually requires cutting & flapping open to reveal it, & rarely advertized as to where it is exactly on each car.

autocrime usually has access to the location of the concealed vin location, but doubt you'll be able to find out unless you know someone pretty well... if you turn the vehicle over to them for inspection then they can impound it if the concealed comes up stolen though... might be worth contacting the authorities if the dealer thinks the dash tag was tampered with... that's a federal offence & not taken lightly...

Merged your threads - makes it easier for people to follow as it unfolds.

I'll try to find out where it is hidden on the frame. My wife said she knows some material damage adjusters involved with fraud and they might know.

Thanks i appreciate all your help guys,the authorities here are pretty freakin lazy it seems,i have called from the police right up to the MTO,and everybody agrees that something is fishy,but says their hands are tied until i can find another vin #..the guy at the MTO even told me that he can and will proscecute but i need to find the other #,he says he knows where to look for other #s but by law he is not allowed to tell me where to look,ok so come do an inspection for me then i said,no,he can't do that either,i'm like well can i bring it to you then,i'll meet you wherever you want me to..no good with that either,even the infiniti dealership i called said i'm S O L...i will get some pics for you guys to see,what i am dealing with..

Didnt you look at this thing before you bought it?
This ride's a real mess

I keep thinking of the scene in Risky Business

recall post.
I read and saw you had it sent to you, ouch.
Other than maybe a Barret jackson approved ride, Unless I see & drive a car, I dont buy it.

looks like he did. You can oly go by the seller in such a situation.
Cant trust anyone these days

Weird on the firewall, maybe it is a fake firewall since our firewalls have vin #'s on them.

well t be honest guys i was pretty excited to be getting the car i really wanted,an infiniti fx35,i mean who really pulls the dash apart to look in there for stuff? i checked for leaks,weird engine sounds and just basic stuff that I KNOW,most of the stuff i just showed you were only pointed out to me by someone who repairs these vehicles...i feel like a big enough idiot through the whole thing so no need to point that out...but when ur that excited and you dont know better and you dont expect this kinda shit..you CAN get burned in this way...now i'm trying to nail this freakin guy the right way and not the way my head would like to...and the ppl in charge of handling stuff like this,the ppl who are supposed to help protect the consumer are telling me we cant do shit till we see another vin#,cuz the one on the car checks out..but i know if they actually came looked at the car or had me bring it to them they could SEE for themselves..but it seems thats just too much to ask them to do.. so i am doing the legwork myself..cuz i apparently didn't do it before i picked up the car...so any help you guys can offer is appreciated..or it looks like this dude is gonna sail on this one..

ps there is a vin# on the firewall and it matches the one in the dash and on the drivers side door..which are the parts believed to be from another car..the rest of the car is believed to be a flood damaged vehicle..i need to know where on this car i may locate a "hidden" vin# that we can prove definatively that this is a flood car with donor vins..clearly it looks like it,but i need a smoking gun...thanks

are you able to read the 'donor' vin?

if so maybe you can try to decode it and see what color it was, whether it was an awd/non-awd. If there is any discrepancy between the donor vin and your vehicle, then you maybe can make a case out of it

edit - heres how to tell if its awd/rwd from vin. hopefully the donor and your current car's features doesnt match up. maybe that would be enough info..

No need, I can tell you if the VIN is for an AWD FX35 or RWD FX35...

Does it start out with:

JNRAS08W#5X ---> AWD

JNRAS08U#5X ---> RWD

Well, I assume that once you prove it's not the car you thought, you won't want it. So don't be afraid to tear it apart looking for the other VIN.

Keep us posted on how this turns out.
Dealers like that are the main reason I am worried when buying a car from a small dealership.

They seem to give all the little guys a bad name!
