Hey IS members! I just purchased a 2006 Fx35 AWD Obsidian black/ Black leather with 86k miles. I am very iffy about this car at the moment due to it still requiring attention from the dealership. Im bought the FX on tuesday at a bay area cadillac dealership. Since I saw that this had the navigation, premium and sports package, I immediately bought it without even test driving it - WRONG MOVE. It is either me being too nervous about things or its the car that is having a ton of problems. The car has been in Illinois for the past 8 years (since 2006). Iv noticed a bit of rust here and there and I dont know what to think of it. May I please have your input? Also, I was told that they found a rusted pin in the rear brake calipers, they replaced the entire rear brake calipers (both sides). They gave me a new dashboard. When I finally went to pick up the car today, as I was cruising during freeway speeds, the steering wheel started to vibrate and all I hear is a mechanical cling from the passenger side. I immediately called Cadillac and they told me to go back and now they are fixing it, again.... Is there some other things that I should watch out for? Or does this sound normal to you guys. Im sorry for typing up such a long paragraph but THANK YOU for reading and replying to me!

I don't hear anything crazy. Rust happens, and especially if it was in the Midwest for 8 years, the undercarriage and mechanicals are going to show salt wear. In terms of the vibration, let them take a look, could have been a balance issue, or potentially something lose if they were working on the brakes. Give them a chance and if it's still questionable try an Infiniti dealer.

Should I be worried about the A- arm brace bolts snapping or like the shocks bolts snapping due to rust thought? I have noticed the serpentine belt or accessory belt having a bit of rust-like color all over it, likewise with the hoodlatch. Am I just too paranoid? The used car salesman manager told me in person it was the wheel bearing and that he would take care of it. Im just hoping I wont encounter more problems once I officially drive off the lot. Thanks again for replying, I feel much better and confident about the car.

My personal opinion here. You're being paranoid. My BIL's 03 FX35 and my 03 FX45 had surface rust here and there, and both of these cars been in the Midwest going through 10 years of winter salt. I have no unsafe feelings drive it. One thing for sure is that servicing cars expose to road salt is a pain at time since the nuts and bolts get corroded; they would seized and rounded out. If the the surface rust gets you that bad, get a shop to spray the under body with rust proofing.

Glad do join this group! been learning a lot and taking notes. cant wait to start some of the projects once I get back stateside
