Hey everyone! I had a question regarding Scotch Magic Tape (See picture below) being used on the car. In a couple weeks I have a wedding approaching and I wanted to decorate my Infiniti by putting up roses on the sides (Picture below). The problem is, I don't want the tape to damage the paint. It will only be on for less than 1 whole day so I'm not sure if the tape will leave back any residue when removed. At first I thought I would only stick the roses onto the windows but I'm not sure how that'll look on my QX56. So should I stick with this Scotch Magic Tape or do you guys have better suggestions? And should I put the roses on the side windows or the body? I'll appreciate any input given! :rotfl:

I was wondering if I should use painters 3M Blue since it doesnt effect car paint. But the problem is it would stick out and ruin the decorations. That's why I was leaning towards clear tape.

I think you'll be fine with Scotch tape for just a day. It won't be on there long enough to get brittle and hard to remove and the tape is relatively low adhesive. Why don't you test a piece on a discrete area and leave it there for a day just to be sure.

For sure test it. I've had a hard time even removing blue tape. Especially if it's cold out.
Magic tape is so low tack, it probably wont hold

Would be harder than tape (as you would have to glue the magnet to the rose), it would also be more expensive, and magnets would probably leave small little scrapes in the clear coat wish would require polishing and wax afterwards.

Just use tape like you suggested somewhere which is discrete (inside of a door), and see what happens. I think you will be fine though.

Thanks for all your inputs guys! I decided to first try it out with tape for a day and see how it'll turn out.

The tape probably won't work. Soooooo, it's a good time to rethink the whole wedding idea all together!

..just kidding there.

You could also try a painters tape of a different color. Not sure if there's a bright white to blend with your paint. But there's green one with a slightly less adhesive strength. It'll match the stems better, but then the stems might look all crazy thick.
I'm assuming you'll drive the car. Are you worried about the wind force ripping the flowers off?
Which in that case, if you tie a big fluffy bow on the flowers, it could hide the tape.

I think any tape would be fine. No one thinks twice about vinyl wrapping their car and the adhesive on that is usually much, much more aggressive than any sort of clear tape. The only problem I can think of with tape is if sun exposure or heat cause the adhesive to be hard to remove or the tape breaks up into little bits while you're pulling it. But that would just be a hassle and not cause permanent damage.

I'm pretty sure they won't fly away since the wedding venue is about 10 minutes from my house. And then you hand NY traffic so I probably won't be going as fast for the roses to fly off. But thanks for the idea!

I think it will snow that day so heat is not an issue lol. But thanks for heads up!

Alright guys so I have tested out the tape for 1 day, I had positive results. The Scotch tape left very little residue but I managed to remove it with my finger. Now the only thing I'm wondering is how to get rid of the 4 feet of snow from the blizzard in my backyard :disapointed:
