Hello fellow FXers...Just wanted to know if anyone has installed or knows about
water injection kits that we can use in our FX's heard from some people that it lowers the intake temp, causing more boost and many more advantages..There are many brands out there..Aquamist, AEM, and cooling mist..so if anyone has some input, I would really like to know...Thanx

Chinke82 is running water/meth injection on his supercharged FX. Just like Nitrous, it depends heavily on the tune. Do it wrong or don't use proper safegards and BOOM. No more motor.

Chemical cooling is definitely a good thing, but it can be the worst thing for your car if you have somebody install that doesn't know exactly how to do it. Pretty much any brand injection kit would work on the VQ engine - plenty of 350Z guys run these systems.

I would say that you would have a pretty hard time causing damage to the motor with a water/meth kit.

I ran the AEM kit on my Mazdaspeed6. Setup is pretty easy as it is a progressive kit. Set a pressure that it should start injecting at (in my case boost pressure) and a pressure where it should be injecting at full pressure from the 200psi pump.

As I live in Az the water/meth was an insurance policy for my motor. Cools intake temps and reduces pinging. In the winter you get a bit more power as well.

I was skeptical of the what it would do to the motor at first as well. I ran it without issue for almost two years before I traded in the car. Still have the kit sitting in the garage......waiting for me to go FI on the FX. :)

Other thing to look at is what you want to inject. Straight water or water/meth mixture?

Most kits are only designed to handle up to about a 20% meth mixture. Also, might want to check cost/availability of methanol in your area. I was able to find a Sunoco distributor and buy methanol by the gallon and mix my own.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I will be happy to help.

Hund is right. At worst, you're likely to cause ignition issues if you spray way too much water and your spark plugs have trouble igniting your fuel mixture. I've been running water/meth (also in AZ) for about 5 years now, although always with F/I cars. More than willing to provide any info I can.
FWIW, I recommend Aquamist. The HFS-6 kit is spendy, but absolutely awesome, with lots of built in failsafe's as well.
