watching dvd's while driving

hey guys i was just wondering, with the stock system i have right now, to watch any video coming thorugh my AUX inputs, the car has to be in park and the E brake has to be on. i was just wondering if theres anything i can do to get rid of that.
 
theres a bypass module you can buy, my friend ordered one off ebay for his m35 , but got cancelled because the cops did an investigation on it and it is illegal, also if your caught while driving you will def be getting a ticket, i think others on this forum have this mod done so they will chime in
 
is that module the only way? would i be able to installl a second dvd player and get them to by pass the mergency thing? i know in my prelude all they ahd to do was hook up something to the emergency break and i was able to drive and watch movies.
 
If you buy an aftermarket headunit you can watch on both, like thus

im assuming this wont work on the normal orange screen? i guess im going to have to buy the flip out and install it like you did, how much did that set-up run you anyways?
 
No you will need the tech package with the color screen. But you can do as some others have done and replace the stock screen altogether as rookie and turbocad has done. My alpine head unit was approx $1500 2 years ago.

very easy to install (minus a little splicing and soldering) and works great too. it's basically a switch on/off to make it work, so, in a pinch, you can go back to your nav screen in a flash - also, the back-up camera isn't interrupted when you're watching a movie on the front.

there's a write up somewhere. if you decided to go with this, i'll post it here if you can't find it.
 
I have a similar module, a simple flick of a switch puts me back to my Nav screen. I was watching American Gangster on the way to Atlantic City Saturday.

hey thanks for the info! i was just wondering going this route will it void my warrantly? or should i just go with a seperate dvd player , or do i absolutely need this module to get video to my front monitor?

i was planning on getting this figured out and installing headrest monitors at the same time.

you need this module since the LCD has no aux video in (this unit taps into the video), also it switches between Nav/CD to Video (DVD)

I am planning on getting one ,but waiting for some "extra cash":laugh:

Reminds me of this guy on Rennlist that posted that he wanted to drop some weight in his Boxster track car. He had already done a seat swap, race battery, and removed the a/c unit. Someone suggested to remove the stereo and speakers and he replied "But what would I listen to when I'm on the track?" LOFL....

Why do you think it's a joke thread? I actually do watch movies on long drives with my stock Nav.

I think there is a mod for foot rest on the dash, dont forget the back massager .

But I am thinking of getting the Nav-TV also. with it at least I know what the backseat people seeing while the wife will be occupied when in the passenger seat:wink:
 
Just bustin' your balls guys.

I just don't want to get rear ended at 80mph by some guy watching Saving Ryan's Privates with his pants around his knees. :wink:

if you buypass the park only lockout of the memory seat position system, you can then just set memory 2 at a lay down position, then you can nap & return to driving as necissary with just the simple touch of a button, might be a good idea to put an lcd in the headliner too, connected to a foward facing camera, I mean you might want to peek every now & again to make sure your not gonna hit anything while laying down without having to bother getting up all the time :tongue:
