Has any body had any warranty issues with the dealer after you've lowered your FX? I have my springs on the way, but I don't want to jepordize loosing my factory warranty
Really depends on what goes wrong.
Generally, warranty cannot be denied if they cant blame the problem on the modified part or it's direct malfunction from that part.
Rarely has there been any issues from lowering, besides maybe a upper strut bearing gone bad . . which is an easy fix.
YOU'RE KILLING ME LARRY!!!!!!!!!!! (sorry i just had to)
hahaha I agree with Dave, they cant just void out the warranty cuz its lowered.
I dont know how many times Ive posted this - but here it is again......I should make it a sticky:
US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312:
Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)).
I went into the dealer indicating I have a squeaking noise going over bumps at low speeds (TSB ITB04-043a Noise from front fender problem) and the tech said it was related to the modified suspension and would not touch it.
I had to point out the TSB and made him look at it again .... picked up FX on Sat (tech was off) and wasnt sure if they fixed it.... I guess they did since I dont hear the noise so far.
I purchased my 06 FX45 2 months ago and immediately installed a set of HR's. Before I installed them I checked with two dealers in the Seattle area and both Techs I spoke with said it wouldn't be a problem with the warranty. Believe me Seattle is not FX mod friendly, it's a safe bet. Where in Kansas?
springs arived yesterday! Thanks for providing that good info. Psiclne. I guess I'll tear into this project this weekend. Logan, I'm just outside the Wichita area, a little hayseed town of Wellington. The Infiniti dealer where I purchased the car is in Wichita, I talked to the service tech there & he was really trying to talk me out of it. Even went so far as to let me know that they're connected to "all" Infiniti service centers & would have to note in their records if I did lower the FX, & could be shooting myself in the foot. (off to a good start with the tech guy) kinda pissing me off. I had my 99 suburban lowered within 200 miles on the odomiter, & no issues in 10 years
Hey Larry-Dealers in my area are not so user friendly as wll. I have been tempted to take the 14+ hr roadtrip to SoCal hook up with some of the FX power users, mod it up for a week then head home. My last dealer experience with the +2 timing advance was surreal. "You're sure you want to do that", "What do you think you will get out of that" etc. The guy who did it took 45 minutes, everything I read online says it was a simple 10 minute procedure, MAX. Anyway if you can find a specialty shp to do the springs I'd say bypass the dealer if they are giving you grief. BTW my Passport says birthplace manhatten Kansas but I spent the first seven years of my life in a little hayseed town called junction city.....
Time wise, it takes however long it takes you to plug a cable under the steering wheel and into a laptop, boot it up, start the car twice, and your done. Took my guy about 5 minutes, and he checked the timing again to make sure it stuck.
I know I've said it before, just find a local Z/G guy to do it.
