Want volk te37's offset help

i agree i really like the first one better, and thanks for the PS! do you guys think a 38 or a 45 offset would be enough to fit over the akebono brakes? and what do you think would be the widest tire i could fit on either of those offsets? no lowering yet due to lack of coilover options

Ok so I think I'm set on the first set of wheels, I'm thinking 20x10+45 for the rear with a 315/50/r20 and for the fronts 20x10x38 with a 295/50/r20... I understand that diff tire sizes front and rear is not optimal for awd but it seems other people in the same situation are running set ups further apart then these? Does this seem feasible and should I keep the offsets the sane front and rear?

Difference in circumference between fronts and rears needs to be tight or it will screw with the AWD system, those #'s look a bit large. I really wanted to run staggered with 315's on the rear as well at one time.

I agree with Logan (I actually made a post earlier about this then screwed up and lost my post:rolleyes:)
I would personally try to get a bit closer to the front and back having the same diameter if running staggered.
Here is a tire calculator I like to use for comparing tire sizes : http://www.autos.ca/tools/tirecalc/tirecalc.htm

man im getting so much different info its overwhelming!

how close on diameter do i need to be, revolutions per minute being how many off would throw trouble my way?

man im getting so much different info its overwhelming! id rather try to keep my fronts and rears the same if i cant get my rears up to a 315 without my fronts a 295 so as of right now im pretty sure i can fit 295's on all 4 corners, the first set of wheel comes in a +38 or +45, so the rims will be 20x10 +38 because i think the +45 is to much. im thinking of going a 295/50/r20, id like to keep a little more sidewall because i drive on some crappy roads and the more cushion the better, eventually im sure ill lower the car to snug them in the gap anyways. im hoping the titanium color of the lip will make the rims stand out more and look bigger than they are!

as of right now this is what im going to order, im ordering on monday so there is still plenty of time to change my mind!

295s on a 10" wheel is good. Squared setup would be best as finding matching tire sizes is hard (mainly because there are some sizes that aren't made by anyone). The setup I posted is a little over 1% difference and the AWD system will not get messed up because of that.

Just for reference I was running +43 on my 10.5"wide wheels with 295s. I added some 15mm spacers in the rear to get an effective offset of +28 which was just about flush. Could have done the same to the front.

+38 would be much better than the +45. The wheels will look small because of the lip and the fact the sidewall is going to be larger.

Do what you want/like. It's your ride!

295/45 is still a lot of sidewall, almost EXACTLY the same as OEM rubber (like .1 off) 295/50 sidewall is gonna be MEATY.....

thanks for the help guys, and the steak picture now im hungry

another noob question, higher the offset number, the further the wheel mounting area is from center of rim, meaning less lip?

Yep you've got that correct. The higher the offset the more outward the wheel is mounted from the hub resulting in less lip.

And Logan is correct. I along with others chose the 295/45/20 setup because it is effectively the same as stock when it comes to rolling diameter and circumference. It is a tenth of an inch off equating in 1 less revolution per mile for the 295s. The sidewall is the exact same as OEM 20" tires (265/50/20) at 5.2 inches.

Not to backtrack but did you ever find a 20" te37 in the right offset and bolt pattern for the FX? I want to put those wheels (or something in that weight range) on an 09 FX50 in a couple of months. Just curious what you found in your initial search.
