want to purchase an FX35

I honestly don't know how I missed that first video, it helped a lot! I went through like 7 pages of YouTube looking for all review videos and overviews. Saw the KBB for the 08 & 09 too.

Give us your budget and examples of cars you are looking at.

Like any other car in the 100k mile + category you need to watch for maintenance. A car that was maintained well with 150k may be much better than a car that was ignored for 100k miles.

Things to look out for on high mileage 1st gen are burning oil and noisy wheel bearings, cracking dashboard.

Yea I just wanted to make sure it was ok to post links here, I know some forums don't like posting links to classifieds

Well I did some math and my budget is around $12000, anything lower is better but I'm willing to spend a bit more for a solid car since it's main purpose is commuting. I searched for Infinitis in my area under $15k in hopes I could knock the price down a bit and just to see the range of prices vs condition. With that price, I could theoretically afford ~$200 a month in payments.

I'm thinking either an 04-05 because they are a bit cheaper and have the cassette player still for my music. But they usually have those ripped drivers seats, a bit older so more wear and tear, and the aforementioned problems.

I like the 07-08 because they were the later half of the 1st gen, have AUX input, more standard features, and are just new and nice enough to last me a little while.

I would LOVE to have an 09+ because I like the look better and standard features but they are closer to the top (or out of) my budget.

I'm going to see these next few this week to check them all out:
1) This car is close to me, CARFAX says it's been in 3 accidents though! So I'm uneasy about it but still want to drive it to see what I'm getting into.
Infiniti FX35 2007 in Stratford Bridgeport Norwalk | CT | Savings Auto Center | 7267

2) Cars.com

3) INFINITI FX35 BLACK ON BLACK CLEAN CAR FAX LOOK!!!

4) JNRAS08W88X206385 | 2008 Infiniti FX35 for sale in Vernon, CT | CARFAX

5) 2004 2004 INFINITI FX45=1OWNER CAR == | CT Autofair, llc

6) Infiniti FX35 2005 in Middletown Waterbury Hartford | CT | Newfield Auto Sales | 10617

7) 06 Infinity Fx 35

8) 2004 Infiniti FX35 AWD V6 280HP Sunroof

The next few are from a dealer with pretty upsetting reviews:
1) JN8AS1MW5AM851020 | 2010 Infiniti FX35 for sale in Inwood, NY | CARFAX

2) Used 2008 Infiniti FX FX35 AWD for Sale in Inwood NY 11096 5 Towns Drive

3) Used 2010 Infiniti FX FX35 AWD for Sale in Inwood NY 11096 5 Towns Drive

The 08 has been in an accident but CARFAX said the car was drive-able afterwards. The other 2 are primo but doubt the price is actually going to be that when I get there.

Lastly, I'll be looking at this because I kinda miss my old QX4 and this one looks clean AF
JNRDR09Y53W303146 | 2003 Infiniti QX4 for sale in Manchester, CT

I'm keeping an open mind and still have a month before I really need a car so no rush to get one, and I am ready to walk away from any of these. Just trying to narrow my list a bit.

thanks for all the help!

I can only speak to the second gen, since I've never owned a first gen. There's something off about that listing. That seems like a really low price for the car and either the person that takes pictures is an idiot, or they're hiding a lot of flaws. CarFax shows a wreck on drivers front, yet the passengers front has a lot of damage. I don't know anything about the dealer, but from what I can gather on their site and in the photos, this is the type of place I avoid at all costs.

you're talking about the listing #3 right, the 2010? Yea I definitely see that now, did not notice at first glance. Thanks for that heads up.

I'm going to see the first set of cars tomorrow. I've also thrown in a few G sedans I want to test too. I really really really want an FX, but a G37 can be had for similar or lower costs with lower miles and is better on gas which is important for my commute. I know they're almost the same but I'm going to drive them both to see how I really feel and if I can live without the SUV height.

Thanks again!

That $12,000 for a 2010 FX35 would scare the f--- out of me! Notice the photos are mostly of the nav screen and the radio....
Take your time, look around test drive, and find what you want.

Welcome. The first gen is not to be scared off as long as the vehicle is well maintained and its on tip top condition.

Yea that dealer is too far and too sketchy for me.

I've had a change of mind and am now pursuing a G37 (so not too far off the FX). Unfortunately, the FX would be too much to insure, too much in maintenance (tires & brakes especially) and too much in gas for my daily commute. I really wanted an FX for it's styling and "cool factor" but will not be able to pursue it at this time.

I'm hoping to stay Infiniti because I love the brand and trust it's build quality and reliability. I've driven two Gs, an 07 G35 and a 2012 G37.

the 07s steering felt heavy and the wheels made a weird sound when I was just coasting, as if there was resistance. It also took a little extra on the throttle to get it moving, like I would put the gas down a bit just to go slow around the lot and it felt like it wasn't going anywhere, then when I put my foot down more, the torque finally came in. It was also a bit more used around the edges, noticeable scratches and scuffs.

The 2012 was beautiful inside and out and I'm trying to get the extra funds to get that.

Thanks for all the help and opinions so far, I really appreciate it. I had a funny feeling about those cheap FXs and am glad I didn't drive the distance to even consider them.

thanks again guys!
