Want to change my 18" OEM wheel to 20" OEM wheel

I have a 2006 FX35 AWD. I have 18" OEM wheels. I would like to change it to 20" OEM wheels. Would this mess up my TPMS since I changed my wheels? If so, do I need to go to the dealer to reprogram it? Also, do you guys have any recommendations in Southern Cal where I can get 20" OEM wheels for a fair price? Thanks for your help!

no it wont mess up the TPMS. They measure PSI. Best place i've found OEM rims would be on craigslist. they arnt up often but when they are a set of 20's with tires usually goes for less than $1000

I have a set with tires (low remaining tread life) sitting nicely in my storage for the last 1.5 years. You can have them for $850 picked up (I am not driving these babies around nor am I shipping them... they are gigantic and heavy).

909FX has bought them at one point and return them to me due to change of heart. He can serve as my reference. You can PM him for condition of the rims since he was the last user of the rims

First of all, please forgive me for my limited knowledge in wheels. So, if I get your wheels and have a tire store put them on for me with new tires, my TPMS will start reading the PSI without any reprogramming or resetting since they are not my original wheels. Also, I assume you have the wheel caps with those wheels...

TPMS will not be a problem. I took my TPMS from my stock wheels and placed them on my new wheels and it worked perfectly. There is absolutely no need to reprogram. All the other guys with rims that transferred TPMS can chime in.

Yes, I have wheel caps as well along with OEM lug nuts. They are your typical 20" wheels that you see on all FXs

Big items such as rims are better to be purchased in person since it does cost more... Plus, you get to see the thing before you pay for it. ignore jbaker's post... hahaha

Where is Carlos when I need him as reference??? I will PM him so he can put in his 2 cents!

i think you'll have to get them re-programmed

Um... no... Why would you need to reprogram? Unless the tire shop breaks the TPMS during removal and installation....

TPMS will not be an issue. Your stock 18's are already programmed for your car. Switching the TPMS to a set of 20's/22's/24's will do nothing, they are still programmed for your car.

If you switch the TPMS from one car to another, then you will have to reprogram.

Well said!

In other words, jump on these wheels. They are local and in great condition. I did not even have them on my FX for not even a week. Ended up keeping my FX after all and lowered her and put back on the 22's. So if your looking for stock 20's, you should get them from Mongolian. As for the sensors, yup no reprogramming. I took mine off from my stocks and put them on my 22's and work fine.

So if your serious, you should get them now before someone else does.

Thanks Carlos!

You were my one and only half-buyer.

I am a reasonable guy. I let Carlos return the rims back to me after couple of days due to his circumstances. I'm sure not many would have taken the wheels back after the sale....

Jump on those wheels... you aren't going to get a better deal, unless JB comes way down on price including shipping :tonguey:

price and shipping? if he buys those wheels and gets them powdercoated hypothetically, my price will still be cheaper. Lmao.

I actually had no plans to sell my wheels until I saw this. I am in no hurry or in desperation to sell my wheels, but I will entertain interest and offers.

Perhaps, you should help Jbaker out since he needs to dump his wheels
